When hollywood turns its gaze from Marvel to Funimation

So… Stephen Spielberg has adopted Ghost in the Shell for a live-action movie.

Cowboy Bebop is already in production with Keanu Reeves as one of the main characters. (I forget which one, the captain, I think…)

And Dragonball, the anime that started it all, has already released its first trailer to the Big Screen. (Speaking of, did anyone else note ( Read more... )

*groans* Fanfiction writers and AMV producers are going to be slapped with so many DMCA's it's not funny. Could you tell me what studios are producing these? Please?

I looked. O.M.G. Cowboy Beebop is now owned by Viacom, and DreamWorks is also owned by Viacom, making Ghose in a Shell belong to them as well. Viacom is the Darth Vader of DMCA's. They are the ones responsible for bringing shitloads of videos down on youtube.

Sucks, doesn't it. I really don't know where some of these guys get off. I'm glad I'm not the only one slightly concerned by this. -Btw, what's a DMCA? *Sheepish grin*

It's the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. You can find out more about it here:

You might also want to look up SLAPP on wikipedia. Heheh.

Oh fuck that sucks. Seriously, how happy are they going to make fans if they don't let us love / obsess over these things? "You can watch but you may not talk about it afterwards." -What!?

-And SLAPP is just ridiculous.

I would vomit my guts out if YYH were turned into a live-action movie (and I didn't have a part in it).

The girls wouldn't kick ass, Sensui and Itsuki wouldn't be gay, and the moral ambivalence would be sucked right out of it.

Oh I know. They'll be all 'let's make it family friendly!' - which will completely ruin the point. I can only hope the rumors that Ghost in the Shell will be 18+ are true.

You know I'm not into anime but this is a TOTALLY BAD IDEA like whoaz. IMO, the only cartoon-to-live-action movie that ever worked was "101 Dalmations" and that is because Hugh Laurie kicks major ass.

Comics to film is one thing. But fo' shizzle, anime to live action? It's. Cheating?

Srsly. What's next? Pokemon? (LOL. That would actually be HILARIOUS. It'd be funnier than Twilight.)

Cheating? Yeah, I didn't think of it like that, but it kinda is. I really jsut wish they'd take their hands off!

ZOMG!!!!! the trailer for DB looked cool but so did the trailer for so many others and they sucked.......

i don't know what to think.... it could be good, it could be bad.....

though there will be many unhappy people like snowfall said.... as it is on amv.org you can't use certain music artists..... *sigh* though a live action pokemon or digimon would freekin rock!!!

I personally hope they never get anywhere near digimon, it's just too special to me. Same with FMA or YYH. I would cry. As it is... I'm actually kinda hoping not too many people'll go see these movies, and they'll give up. *Sigh*

lol true enough.... they would indeed give up if it didn't go well but at the same time you have to realize that movie directors and producers can be anime fans too just like amv makers so.... yeah if i was an anime fan and had the means to do it justice i would try.... doesn't mean we'd succeed but lol....
