I think it is highly likely that Celebrimbor knew at least some Khuzdul, given his long friendship and working relationship with Narvi. I love the fact that he is reimbodied and has another opportunity to meet a craftsperson of Gimli's quality. Fun!

Once I dug about on Ardalambion it seemed very likely that he would have spoken at least some. Gimi seems to be tripping over more Khuzdul-speakers than he could ever have expected!

The prompt's a bit repetitive isn't it? I like what you've done with it a lot. Celebrimbor is among my very favourite Elves :)

When I saw the prompt my heart did sink rather - I'm relieved I managed to do anything with it, though dealing with the prompt used up more words than I would ideally have liked and thus left fewer for Gimli/Celebrimbor. Never mind, another notch on the virtual stick!

You can always edit down the rubric words when you put the drabbles into sequence.

A very fitting meeting I think - and what a sad conversation may well ensue about the fate of Khazad-dûm, but another friend for Gimli here, I think.

Maybe they could go together to visit Aulë... Wombat slides out, whistling innocently... Well, OK, grins and sticks tongue out might be more accurate :~P

I wish I'd had the word-count to talk more about Khazad-dum - as you say, I think Celebrimbor would be very sad to hear about Moria's fate.

I shall ignore hints and supposedly-innocent whistling, let me tell you! It all depends on the prompts from here on in and there aren't many left...

'S all right - I'll happily let you off Aulë! Although I can see me spending the entire weekend trying to work out where I read a story about Gimli visiting Aulë's forge.

You - on the other hand - are going to be so busy with the last prompts and also getting the twin sons of Elrond ready to bat them back over the net... so to speak! I think it would only be fair to let you off Aulë... for now!

I've got two incompatible half-formed ideas for my next shot in the Peredhil Tennis, and can't quite get either of them to completion yet. One of them will get there.

As for Aulë - the odd thing about this sort of challenge is that the author doesn't have much more idea than the readers about what's going to happen! I've no idea what I'm going to do with tomorrow's prompt, which has just gone up...

A great use of a tricky prompt.

Thanks, Linda - it's not the most straightforward, is it?
