I f*cking love fandom ;-)

I knew this would take the fandom all of, oooh, five minutes. Gacked from gillo via kortirion, and utterly, utterly NSFW, and do not click if you are offended by well, not so much gratuitous swearing as continuous swearing...

This is one of the moments I regret not having any useful access to Dr. Who. We were at least blessed with Torchwood eventually, but that was it, and I have seen some older seasons on DVD - without subtitles, which makes it nearly impossible to understand. *g* So I know a bit, might recognise the newer Doctors on sight, and am otherwise feel like the dog waiting outside the butcher's... *ggg*
Happy anticipating! :o)

Even if you did know Who, this is only really funny if you're also familiar with the series that all the clips of the new-Doctor-to-be, Peter Capaldi, are taken from; it's a series called The Thick of It where he plays a very, very foul-mouthed spin doctor (political adviser) called Malcolm Tucker.

The average Tucker sentence contains more swearwords than non-swearwords, to the extent that he almost makes it into a kind of poetry... so ever since the announcement was made on Sunday that Capaldi would be the Twelfth Doctor, half the fandom has been giggling helplessly at the idea of the Doctor telling the Daleks or the Cybermen to "f*cking well f*ck the f*ck off this f*cking planet..."

[What can I say, we're easily amused!]

Yes, this! *wry* I watched this once, and have spent a lot of time since thinking, "Hmmm, ok, everybody seems to think this guy is a good idea, so...."

Of course, I'm about to have much empathy with all the David Tennant fans, and what they went through. The tears are already a-flowing, I'll tell you.

Oh, and boooo for no Doctor Who. But how bizarre to have had just Torchwood! I can't imagine how that could have made any sense at all...

I only know the bare minimum of details about that series, and it's still pretty fucking hilarious. (See what I did there?)

Hoh yes, ma'am.

(My favourite ever Malcolm Tucker moment is when he addresses an underling who is hovering nervously in a doorway:

"Fuck the fuck in, or fuck the fuck off!"

It rather gives the lie to those people who insist that swearing can only ever impoverish language. Such a lovely cadence ;-) )

I may have to upgrade my DT-"Blimey!" icon to something a little, er, stronger...

...who is hovering nervously in a doorway

When ever I read that phrase I'm always reminded of a story told to us (as film students) by a sound-recordist. He said he was on a reasonably big budget Brit film and they'd spent all morning trying to record a conversation between two characters with somebody hoovering in the background - eventually they told the director it just couldn't be done - the director contacted the writer who replied...
"No - he's hovering in the background, not hoovering".
They were not at all pleased with the script dept!

It might have been 'The Full Monty' come to think of it.
