If it's Second Small Person's birthday, then it must also be the winter solstice, that time when at the darkest moment of the year we need thoughts of warmth and celebration and light. Two things I thought I would share, this year:

I love Eliot's Magi. We have used it in church for a service at least once. But ever since I first read Jael's We Three Kings any mention of the Magi bring the 'wrong' images to mind!

Jael's story is just gorgeous, isn't it? She works in every detail so well. And "refractory" would be a very apt description of both Thranduil and his camel!
