Of course, Joan is forgetting one small thing... she's not coming down to see her grandmother, she should be coming down to help her sister.

Really, that's the most heartbreaking element of the tale.

Exactly. Louise & Anne could really use her help, but she's just so wrapped up in everything else that nothing else matters.

Love the "Cats in the Cradle" reference, BTW. Harry Chapin is my favorite.

When we click on your entries, why does it go directly to the comment form? I have to scroll up to read the actual entry, and what if I don't have anything to say? I find it a little off-putting, but maybe that's just me...

With regards to this entry, I can totally see Joan's point of view. It's so hard to see people we love start to decline, especially mentally... :-(
