I have to Nelson laugh in the direction of the Rangers as much as the Yankees on the Lee to the Phils surprise. I can imagine why the Yankees couldn't seal the deal, but I am a little curious to know what Lee and/or his family didn't like about Texas because the original take from EVERYONE was that he just loved the organization, the culture, and ( Read more... )

He was well beloved before. Now? Now he is this city's golden god.

Also, I hear his contract allows him to hunt down Joe Blanton with a crossbow.

Harden might go back to the A's? Is Billy going to finish what he started (completely breaking Rich down, physical- and mental-health wise, I mean)?

Alas, they've made an offer, yes. SuSlu says it's for a bullpen role, even, so I can't imagine what would possess him to accept.

I just saw that Jon Heyman said they agreed to a deal, via Twitter. I wonder how Oakland fans feel about this. Yay, RIch is back? Or boo, Rich is back? :P

NOOOOOO.

I think Rich was fairly well received when he went back to Oakland with Texas, so I think most fans are okay with giving him another shot. The A's haven't guaranteed him much, so it's not like he'll kill the team.

You know, when I saw him pitch with the Phillies in the playoffs, it looked right. With the Rangers? It just didn't quite look right.

I am glad your sixth sense was accurate!

I can't say I picked up on any discomfort with Lee when he was in Texas, except perhaps for that weird spell when he was getting killed in the late summer and it turned out he was hurt, and Nolan Ryan suggested that Lee was being less than upfront with the team. Nolan Ryan's kiiiiind of an asshole.

Nolan Ryan was kind of hilarious to watch throughout. They'd show him watching and he always looked so grim and intense. Okay, I guess that's because they were losing a lot of the time, but I don't know if he would have looked much happier even if that weren't the case.
