So basically, you don't like anything with strings? :P
It's a tie between Eight Days A Week and I'm Happy Just To Dance With You
For your ongoing education, 8 Days is a Paul/John composition (Paul started, John helped him finish). John didn't like the song atall, which means he thinks the lyrics are weak. Which they are, but the sound is IMMENSE and sometimes he's too much of a lyrics man to see that, I guess.
And I'm pretty sure I've already told you I'm Happy is a John song that he gave to George to sing because he didn't like it.
I see a pattern here. Maybe I should make a mix of all the songs John didn't like, and it would be your favourite Beatles songs ever.
I think when you say clangy, you mean you don't like Ringo :P
when it comes to the Beatles, I like their dancier stuff. You know, so long as it's not clangy.
I would think Beatles For Sale would be your favourite album. Not that there's a lot of dance stuff (although it does include 8 Days), but it seems to be the sort of mature pop period you prefer.
Like John's ever happy unless some chick is getting threatened by her boyfriend, or there are a billion obscure drug references in one of his songs.
Not true! For instance, the only song Paul wrote himself that I can remember John admitting he wish he had come up with (some songs he admires but says they could never be his) is "All My Loving"
But he inspired some of the better song titles, so I don't think that's altogether it .
Well, I see that Bri has set you straight on John so, there is no need for me to step in. :-P
I don't know what my favorite Beatles song would be, there are just too many that qualify. I don't think I would pick what you selected, but I have no quibble with your choices. I'm Just Happy to see you talking about this. ;-D

Yes, yes.

I see a pattern here, too. One that indicates that John, bless his soul, while occasionally struck by great poppy inspiration, HAD NO TASTE :P
