~ Have discovered a new (to me!) writer that I like! This happens so infrequently as to be quite noteworthy. It's Patricia Briggs, a fantasy writer out of the NorthWest. I've never been a big fan of urban fantasy, but she's great with descriptions and character voices. And the best part is, she has a handful of three or four book series already ( Read more... )

We're gonna be in the sun all day this time, and I'm fasting, so that could get interesting.

Stay safe!

~ Does anyone on ye olde f-list keep score at baseball games? I have some technique questions.

I do, even though I think I do it wrong.

Do you do anything special to indicate when a player gets a single because the pitcher/catcher let the ball roll and it rolled fair? Or when a batter k's swinging, but the catcher drops the ball and has to tag him out?

Hm. I don't think I've ever scored games where either of those happened, but I would probably just record them as a single and a K.

See, that's what I do right now, but I think I want to figure out a way to indicate those kinds of things, just cause. Of course, the boxes are so small, there's really only so much information you can put in there. But I know some people record pitch location and pitch speed and the pitches per at bat, and I figure if people can do all that in those little boxes, I should be able to figure out a way to indicate the occasional dropped third strike or infield hit.

I'm 100% sure he was talking to you, dork. It's not even one of those times where I'm not sure where he was looking.

(Huston also reacted to my A's tee in Pittsburgh last year. It's an endearing quality about former Athletics not named Barry Zito.)

Or Bobby Crosby. And I know it wasn't just me, because there was a guy in a NOT homemade A's shirt who didn't even get a glance. I think Bobby's bitter. I would be.

Aw, yeah, I can see that. How's he doing in AZ anyway? I haven't seen heads or tails of him with the D-Backs. Of course, I barely paid them attention when Danny was with the team.

I have NO idea what he's been doing in AZ. I only knew so much about him as a Pirate because I managed to see him start twice in Houston.

Yeah; it could be better but it features Timothy Olyphant as an officer of the law, so yes, I like it :P

I've only watched 2 episodes so far but I'm enjoying it! It has a vaguely Coen Brothers feel to it.
