~ RIP, Senator Kennedy. Not my favorite Kennedy, but you had your moments. It really boggles the mind to think about how many lives he impacted, and for how long.

You knew about this sooner??!?!!!?!

I just want to know how someone gets claimed by an unknown team. WTF.

I actually acquired to Harden shirts this summer, both of the Cubs. Now I have to get another team. Lol.

Good thing I didn't get tickets for the Cubs/Mets series in Queens! And now, I don't have to watch the Mets games this weekend (which I was only going to do for Richie-watching on my actual TV).

I don't think I'm taking this well. And I think it's mostly because we don't know where he's gone just yet.

However, did you see that Huddy's comeback is scheduled?! Monday night! Mark it on your calendar!!!

lol, yes - Bri called me around 4:30 EST or so?

Well, if I recall correctly, waiver dealings are supposed to be confidential, so that's why it's an "unknown" team until someone leaks who.

lol, TWO cubs!Harden shirts? One white and one blue? See, Bri and I figured we would just stick with the classic A's shirt until we see who he signs with this offseason ;)

And I think it's mostly because we don't know where he's gone just yet.

Well it's not a done deal! Whomever claimed him still has to actually work out a trade with the Cubs by Monday, or Harden remains a Cub. I would be pretty surprised if he actually got moved; but who knows.

eta: No, I hadn't heard about Huddy making his season debut - thanks for the heads' up!

I don't like having to wait. I'm impatient. LOL.

DUDE. I checked my flist too, to see if it had been posted about!

Around 4:30, was when I was saying how I really wanted to see Harden pitch in Queens, but that I couldn't afford the tickets, etc. If only I knew...

And I'm not gonna lie, I'm hoping the Mets somehow got him. We need starting pitching like you wouldn't believe. Right now, we have relievers starting games. Sad place.

Yep... one blue and one white!! I bought myself the white one, and then raspsun got me a blue one for my b-day.

Aaaannnddd... I'm kinda excited about Huddy making his comeback. At least someone is making a comeback!

lol, me too, to be honest. I must have searched google like 20 times this afternoon, hoping the claiming team had leaked. I really want it to be the Rockies! **is predictable**

You know, I suppose it's technically possible. When you consider all the teams pundits have said might have interest in Harden (Dodgers, Rockies, Giants, Marlins, Braves), the Mets have worse records than any of them, so their claim would take priority. But I don't think your GM would want to give up a lot for a one month rental when your season is already unsalvagable, even if you're desperate for arms :/ And I don't know what your salary situation is, but you'd be taking on what's left of his salary which has got to be at least $1 million.

At least someone is making a comeback!

Man, I know, right?

~ Watched Nats at Cubs. I seriously suspect Rod Dibble has some kind of substance abuse problem. His on air commentary is ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Didn't he have some sort of alcohol related problem once? Like doing commentary or something while wasted? Hmm.

~ Milton Bradley: omgshutup. I am embarrassed to have spent any time at all this season on your side. It's getting to the point where I really can't see how the Cubs do anything but release him.

Aww. Abandoning ship? I've heard rumblings off and on during the season that the Tigers were interested in Bradley. I kind of hope it's not true because we don't really need another LF/DH type.

and Alex welcomed spawn #3 a few weeks ago: son Cruz Chavez.

Cruz? Really?

Hmm, saw this tidbit on MLB Trade Rumors:

7:30pm: According to Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com, "An American League source with knowledge of the process indicated the Minnesota Twins may be the team that claimed Harden."

BOOO.

Paul Sullivan of the Trib reported an hour ago that team sources confirmed that both Harden & Heilman were claimed by NL clubs, and since NL clubs would have had first crack, I would be really surprised if that business about the Twins were true. I'm going with Paul on this one.

Didn't he have some sort of alcohol related problem once? Like doing commentary or something while wasted? Hmm.

That sounds about right, to be honest.

Cruz? Really?

According to CSN Bay Area, any way. I guess he couldn't think of another Spanish D name.

I heard Rich's claim came from the NL. But take that with a grain of salt, as I was told by someone who heard from someone else.

I'd take that salad but without the cucumber.

NO NO NO NO WHO'S TRYING TO TAKE RICH AWAY FROM US?!?!? D-8) *clings to him*

Yeah, I heard about the waiver claim today too. What the HELL are the Cubs trying to do?? Idiots. I'll behead Hendry myself with a rusty dagger if he lets this happen. Our pitching is all we've got these days!

I don't know if Bradley will ever find happiness in baseball. I do feel for the guy, but he just keeps shooting himself in the foot when he talks to the press. To be fair though, I think there's been chemistry problems all through the team this year; at the very least a general malaise, and (in my opinion) everyone missing DeRo.

I suspect it would still work! It's versatile like that :P I had it again today, and added avocado just because, and it was great.

Yes! Every time he opens his mouth it just gets worse and worse... I just saw him today and all I caught was something about his aunt with lupus and I had to start tuning out. I don't even know where he was going with that, and what it has to do with a team that just lost two out of three to the worst team in baseball.

Piniella did admit that this was not "one of the better chemistry teams" that he's ever had. Talk about your understatements.

I used to feel bad for Bradley, but then guys like Derrek and Soriano supposedly attempted to get on his "side," and he basically ignored them. So... yea. I kind of don't care for him. And his antics this past week have been embarrassing.

I recently dug out my old Chavvy shirt- it had buried itself into the back of my closet. I'm pulling for him so much. :(

Re: James Richard.... Can't say I didn't see it coming in terms of him leaving, but..... not via waivers. And it kind of signals Jim Hendry giving up on this year, yes? Sigh.

And what's nuts is he's just completely oblivious. It's kind of amazing.

Awww. The story said that he was in the clubhouse before each of the games against the Mariners, because he's been rehabbing from his surgery in WA state. That made me so sad for him! He's only 31, and it feels like he's spent half his career battling these back problems. He just wants to be a part of a team again, you can tell.

And it kind of signals Jim Hendry giving up on this year, yes?

You are not wrong. Talk about timing! Of course the news would break on the eve of this unacceptable series loss to the Nats, to boot.

Ah, thanks for telling me that - you saved me $7. I saw on the Rockies website that there was a piece about Huston and his guitar in the August issue of Rockies Magazine. You can buy individual issues from the site, but I was hoping to find out more about the substance of the article before springing for the mag. Glad to hear there's nothing new, although I continue to be amazed that Huston hasn't merited a cover over there yet. Every cover this year has been a guy who was already on their team last year, which is insane when you consider that they're mostly in contention because of Jason Marquis, Huston and C-Gon (I refuse to call him Cargo). Maybe they'll get a shared cover story in the September issue.

my money would be on the Rockies, personally.

From your lips to the baseball god's mainframe!

But it may just be strategery to keep Rich from going to LA. In which case, thank you very much, whoever you are, mystery team. Blech.Bri had the same reaction ("god pls not lad") and I also don't see how it could be them. If there ( ... )

Nah, you don't have to do that! Honestly, if he didn't say something I don't already know about Harden or Zito and the guitar, then I'm not all that interested.
