I can’t say that Mussina has ever been one of my boys, but I certainly have been an admirer of both his intelligent game and his wit. I’ve always felt a little sad that he missed winning that WS ring by a year, and that he didn’t get the Cy Young he deserved in 2001 (yea, even though he would have beaten Mark for it, he did earn it, and that would have been infinitely better than Mark losing to Roger Clemens). But it makes me happy that he bows out on a high note (what a difference a year makes, no?), and garnering the respect and acclaim he is due after a long and exceptional career. Let’s hope the people who vote for the Hall of Fame get these clues.
Congratulations, Moose, on a job marvelously done! Enjoy your new life, but come back and visit from time to time. :-)

Seriously! I am quite relieved to have been proven wrong about him not retiring last year :)
