Definitions of Angel - Part 7: Angel's Alter Ego
After my HD crashed six month ago I had tried to restore the mediafiles of this video but wasn't able to fix them in a way so I would be able to finish the whole project. Today I decided to post it the way it is. I guess it's necessary for me in order to get some closure....
The plan was to tell the whole story of Angelus appearance in Angel Season Four, all the trouble it caused until Willow fixes the mess. I know a lot of fans hate the fourth season of Angel and I admit it was a painful exerience to watch it. But still I love the whole Opera-Style and I love Angelus - in a twisted way of course! For me the best two episodes are Soulless and Calvary, when Angelus is still in his cage and messing up the whole group of his family/friends/team. The writing in these episodes is like a theatre play and give a deep inside into each of the realtionsships between Angel and Wesley, Connor, Fred, Cordelia, even Lilah and Gunn. Also I think it's one of DB's best performances.
I wanted to honor all this by telling the story with a chronological main plotline and then adding several seperate storylines by cuting in a lot of flashbacks from former epsiodes and even seasons as a reference to all the events Angelus implicates in this cage speeches and uses to destabilise the group. So in the end I would have a complex nexus of connections between the different characters. And instead of actually "quoting" them I wanted to transcripe the fantastic dialogues into a visual language.
The Prologue is a summary of the events and psychological state of each character that led to the desicion to take away Angels soul so Angelus can awake and fight the beast. This first part is almost finished. The visual effects are pretty much like I wanted them to be. Then after Angels soul is gone there are still a lot of effects I had only started working on but you can hopefully imagine how it was supposed to look like. After around 5:20 the vid is only just a layout, a raw cut of the plain main storyline to structure the events without any effects at all. Here I wanted to put in all the flashbacks.
For this uploaded and now public fragment I should have probably cut before that cause this is the less finished aka boring part and the lame ending makes the watching experience maybe more frustrating. The only reason I didn't let it end before the flashbacks are missing and the effects stop is that I love the scene when Wesley carries Faith back home *sigh*
The audio tracks are also only roughly edtied, but I hope the mix is good enough so you can understand the original voices. At 6:30 the video stops because after that even in the simple layout there have been still a lot of missing scenes. The full length would have been 9 minutes.
I am really sorry, I couldn't do more and present the video the way I wanted it to be.
