Ugh, that article... as I ranted to iamashamed, it was set out to be a hatchet job. I particularly like (not really) the fact the "journalist" completely dismisses Kristen Schaal's pieces which are, you know, aimed specifically at sexist media. And I didn't see a mention of Nancy Walls, or the fact that the show has at least one female executive producer. And the snippy little gossipy segments about how (allegedly) Jon is a dick "in real life"-- don't help the "journalistic integrity" of the piece.

I'm not saying the show hasn't had its sexist moments, but that article was written by somebody who clearly hates the shows and wants a thin veneer of feminism to cover her ass. And I'm sorry, having an all female or mostly female writing staff doesn't make a show not sexist. Chelsea Lately is famous for having the most female writers in late night TV and they dish out some of the most sexist shit I've had the misfortune to tune into (I stopped watching regularly after hearing her refer to Bill Clinton's trip to North Korea to free the American ( ... )

I LOVE YOU ♥ thank you for articulating what I couldn't express, why I hated that article. It wasn't telling me anything new really that I hadn't thought about, except for the personal attacks on Jon which pissed me off.

And I'm sorry, having an all female or mostly female writing staff doesn't make a show not sexist. THIS HOLY FRAKKING JESUS, THIS -_-

*sigh* Also, I just read the Lauren Weedman article. It was a combination of ROFL and O_____O I felt so bad for Jon...

*loves back*

And as some smarty-pants put it, it was trying to be a whistle-blower article without a whistle or anything to really blow about.

I tend to get extra pissy on this point since the whole reason I started watching TDS was because my very angry fifteen and a half year old self (come to think of it, I think I was a lot angrier then-- I like to think I've maybe just gotten better at putting things in perspective) was catching it and seeing an opportunity for them to make a really easy and cheap sexist joke and totally throwing me for a loop by pw3ning the shit out of the sexist organization.

I also could rewatch Jon sincerely referring to feminism as a wonderful thing over and over and over again and I, you know, have.
