Snowshoeing is lots of fun. You can rent for around $30/day at places like EMS and Adventure Outfitters and some bike shops, or buy a starter pair for $125-$160. I had my parents get me a pair for Christmas last year.
T$ got a pair of shoes a month ago too, so I expect we'll both be going together once a week when we get snow on the ground. I think I go around 3x a week just through the park behind my house - and you have trails behind your house, or the Rail Trail from campus. What's usually a 15 minute walk becomes a half hour trek, and you can pretty much wear normal winter clothes (including whatever shoes you normally wear to run errands around campus on snowy days). Whenever I go snowshoeing I can't stop giggling the whole time, it's just so silly to be floating along atop snow that'd usually go up to your knees, and it makes me feel like a duck! *waddle waddle* ^_^ *giggles*
