Chapter Two

“Hurry up, Pon! We’re already twenty minutes late!” Shou called as he ran toward the studio.

“Stop telling me to hurry!” Hiroto yelled back, “I was right next to you until you suddenly started running like something was chasing you!”

“Oh, god I hope Nao-san doesn’t yell at us!”

“Shou-kun! Slow down!”

Shou kept running until he reached the parking lot of the studio, then slowed to a walk. A few seconds later Hiroto jogged up to his side and, too, slowed to a walk. “Next time give a guy some warning before you take off,” Hiroto mumbled.

“Sorry Pon. I just don’t want to get yelled at for being late,” Shou replied looking at the younger man.

“Yeah, I know. I don’t want to either,” Hiroto stated as he reached out and pulled open the door to the studio. Shou rushed past him as soon as the door was open wide enough for him to fit through.

“Guys! We’re so sorry we’re late!” Shou exclaimed as he barreled into the room.

Saga and Tora both jumped and spun towards the door, taken aback at the exclamation. Shou finally looked around the room and noticed that someone was missing.

“Where’s Nao-san?” Shou asked confused as Hiroto walked past him to set his guitar case down.

Saga was still gaping at Shou and clutching his hand over his heart so Tora decided to answer the question, “Um, he got called into a meeting about fifteen minutes ago. We don’t know how long it’s going to last but he said that if he wasn’t back in two hours we should just go home.”

“Oh.” Shou deadpanned. “So we ran here for nothing?”

“Basically,” Tora said.

Shou pouted and walked over to one of the plush armchairs in the room and slumped down into it. Hiroto came over a few minutes later and laid down on the couch, Tora followed him and collapsed into another chair. Saga finally seemed to come out of his stupor and also moved toward where the others were sitting. As there were no other chairs he moved over to the couch, lifted up Hiroto’s legs and dropped them to the ground, sitting down in the previously occupied spot. Hiroto gave him a small glare and raised his legs up and dropped them across the bassist’s lap.

“Why were you guys late?” Saga questioned as he started to undo the clasps on Hiroto’s boots. After he got the straps loosened he slid the shoes off of Hiroto’s feet and placed them on the floor next to the couch, he didn’t want to get his pants dirty from the other’s feet lying in his lap.

“Well Hiroppon came over last night and we watched a movie, but he fell asleep sometime during it and I was too lazy to get up when it was over so we both ended up sleeping on the couch all night. So I didn’t hear my alarm clock go off and we both woke up kind of late. Then we had to go back to Hiroto’s place so he could change and so he could get his guitar,” Shou explained, sitting up in the chair. “We had to walk the whole way because we missed the bus,” he pouted.

“Oh, you poor thing, you had to walk,” Tora simpered, giving Shou a cheerful smile when said man glared at him. “What movie did you watch?”

“Sweeney Todd!” Shou exclaimed, his mood quickly brightening. “Oh Tora-shi you were right! It’s a really good movie. But the ending was just so... Ah! I couldn’t believe it just stopped like that!”

“I know!” Tora replied excitedly, and the two men started a heated discussion about how great the movie was. Saga, not really caring, looked over at Hiroto who had his eyes closed as he reclined on the couch.

“So,” Saga began, placing both his hands on the other’s shins. He leaned toward Hiroto, “You both slept on the couch? Together?” Saga said slowly, a smirk forming on his face.

Hiroto opened his eyes and gave Saga a dead stare. Then he glanced at Shou and Tora, who were too lost in their own conversation to notice Saga and himself. He raised himself to a sitting position, leaning his side against the back of the couch, keeping his legs sprawled over Saga’s lap.

“Yes, Saga-kun, we both slept on the couch,” Hiroto hissed at the bassist, a slight blush coming over his face.

“Oh! Pon! You’re blushing!” Saga teased. “What happened? Give me all the details!”

“God, Saga-kun, you’re acting like a teenage girl.” Hiroto replied.

“But Pon, it’s just so cute how you have a crush on our Shou-kun,” Saga sang.

“Shh! Not so loud, Sagacchi!” Hiroto exclaimed in a low voice, glancing over at Tora and Shou. He sighed in relief at the fact that they hadn’t heard Saga’s outburst.

“Tell me what happened, Hiroshi!”

“Okay! I went over to his house last night when I got bored and we decided to watch a movie. He had one of his windows open and it started to get cold so I asked him if I could close it and he went to go find some blankets to warm us up. But he only had one clean so we had to share--”

Saga wolf-whistled and raised his eyebrows at Hiroto, causing the other to blush again and smack the bassist in the stomach. “If you’re going to be like that I’m not going to tell you anymore,” Hiroto pouted.

“Oh, don’t mind me. Please, continue.” Saga replied, giving the guitarist a innocent smile. Hiroto gave him a stern look before continuing.

“Anyways, he said that we would have to share so I said: ‘As long as I get to use you as my pillow’ and he laughed and told me that it was fine if I did. So I leaned against his side and tried to watch the movie some more. But I was really comfortable and it was warm and I just ended up falling asleep.”

“You’re such a cuddle whore, Pon,” Saga teased and Hiroto stuck his tongue out at him. “So what happened when you woke up?”

Hiroto started to blush again, “Well I woke up before him and he was holding me. He had his arms wrapped around my waist and his head was leaning against mine.” Hiroto could barely talk anymore because he was smiling so wide.

“Cute!” Saga cooed. “But he was holding you? Pon! That must mean that he likes you! You should ask him out!”

“No!” Hiroto exclaimed. “You know he’s really affectionate. He was probably just doing that because he was comfortable.”

“Stop putting yourself down. I’m sure that if he didn’t like you at all then he would have woken you up so that you could go home.”

“Do you really think--” Hiroto was interrupted by the door crashing open.

“Practice time!” Nao sang as he moved into the room. “Come on guys! We’ve already lost some time because of that meeting! And we really should try to get at least most of the new songs practiced by the end of today.”

Tora and Shou both stood up, moving over towards Nao while trying to wrap up their conversation on the movie. Nao began to tap out a beat on his drums as he waited for everyone to get in their places.

Saga glanced back at Hiroto. “Look,” he murmured to the guitarist, “Maybe Shou-kun doesn’t really like you as much as you do him, but I’m sure that there’s some kind of spark there. I’m not saying that you should run up to him and give him a love confession right now, but I am saying that you should have a little more hope.” Saga smiled at Hiroto and then gently moved the other’s legs off of his lap, standing up and walking over to his bass.

Hiroto watched him go, running the words over in his mind before also getting up to fetch his guitar.
