My hands are cold
Dimly, the cold memories of love gather.
The little fluffs of snow drifted gently down, covering the earth with its white splendour.
The room is silent, save for the quiet beeping of the heart rate monitor. On the bed, a lone figure rests motionlessly.
He shifts. "Who's there?"
From the far corner, a figure moves. "You can see me?"
"Not particularly, but I can sense you there." The boy on the bed turns his attention to the falling snow, seemingly already forgetting about the unknown person in the room.
After a moment, he speaks. "Do I know you?"
"No."
"Did Taemin send you?"
"No."
The boy chuckles. "You don't talk much, do you?"
----------------------------------------
I know that I no longer
want to impose my feelings on you.
"How is he, doctor?"
The doctor looked grim. "He's not improving, I'm afraid. The illness is getting worse, and, eventually..." He trails off, and Taemin knows what he leaves out.
Taemin doesn't want to hear it either. "T-There's no other way? N-No medicine?"
The doctor shakes his head. "He might not...last much longer."
"H-How much longer...?"
"I'm sorry, Taemin-sshi. A week, or so."
Only Minho's supportive arm stopped Taemin from collapsing on the floor.
----------------------------------------
Because I realize that I cannot love you
even though you are so close to me,
It’s too hard for me to be waiting
for someone that cannot be mine.
The snow continues to fall, but the usually silent room is filled with talking.
"What's your name? Do you know what my name is?"
"Kibum. Kim Kibum."
"They used to call me Key, back when..." Kibum trails off, brow furrowing. Then shook his head lightly. "Do you have a nickname too, mister?"
"Some of them call me Angel."
Kibum laughed a little. "That's a weird nickname. But it's nice."
----------------------------------------
I can’t endure any longer
because it will never happen.
"My brother came again today. He was with a guy, I can't remember his name though."
"Minho."
"Was that his name? Minho-sshi." Kibum smiles softly. "Taemin looked happy with him."
He gently traced his fingers on the white sheets. "I had someone too, once. He was my everything."
----------------------------------------
The name that I once loved
travels further away as I call it,
"How can he have that illness, he's too young--"
"He's been like that ever since the accident a year ago. Hyung, the doctor says he's not going to l-last much longer."
There is a deep intake of breath from the other line. "H-How much longer?"
Taemin closed his eyes as if to will away the pain. "A week."
Jonghyun drops the phone.
----------------------------------------
I write down that name, holding back tears,
I want to hide it within myself.
"I first met him in a day just like this." Kibum has the faraway look of one reminiscing the past. "It was snowy, and I was waiting for Taemin in a cafe, and he tripped next to my table."
He chuckles softly. "He spilled his coffee all over me. It was painful."
"What did you do?"
"I remembered shouting at him. And he was apologizing so much, he looked like a kicked puppy. Then..."
Kibum doesn't remember what happens next, but Angel doesn't pressure him.
Slowly, Kibum drifts off to sleep, dreaming of the boy he once loved.
----------------------------------------
Please understand the days
when I had no choice but to love you
A love that was never realized, is still love.
"Kibum, don't you remember me? Jonghyun, your best friend?"
Kibum doesn't really remember. This boy with the bleached blonde hair was as unfamiliar as a passing stranger.
Jonghyun's heart breaks. The Kibum he used to laugh with, played with, shared memories with was reduced to this gaunt-looking boy, looking at him as if he were a stranger.
His voice cracks. "D-Damn it, Kibum."
But Kibum doesn't remember him, will never remember him.
Kibum turns his head to watch the falling snow, and Jonghyun's tears fall.
----------------------------------------
The feeling of love,
which cannot be realized alone, draw near.
"On our first date, we watched a movie. It was a horror movie, it was..."
Sometimes it's just bits and pieces, little fragments of his memories slowly disappearing.
His brow furrows again, and he struggles to remember, but he can't.
He lets out an embarrassed laugh. "I-I don't remember what it was, but I remember screaming a-and..."
And sometimes, it's just a big, gapless void.
"Sorry, I can't remember..."
A warm breeze brushes gently on his cheek, and Kibum's fears disappear.
----------------------------------------
The yearning for this love I couldn’t even begin
only grows bigger,
and in a column of my chilled heart,
only your scent remains.
Some days, the pain is so unbearable, he can't even speak. His body rages with fever, and he writhes in agony, soaking the bed with his sweat.
But it's different this time; a cool breeze soothes his fiery brow, a gentle caress wipes away the sweat and tears.
It's excruciating now, and he almost doubles over in agony; the heart-rate monitor is beeping noisily to match his heartbeat.
Slowly, bittersweet notes fill the room.
"The name that I once loved...travels further away as I call it..."
The pain slowly lessens, but Kibum is weak, so weak.
"Your voice...is beautiful, Angel."
----------------------------------------
I turn it back a thousand times,
going back to the place I was.
The clock is ticking, but the memories get clearer.
"He took me to Han River, and that was where he told me he loved me for the first time."
His lungs are getting weaker, and his vision gets blurry.
Outside the cold room, nobody can hold back their tears.
The clock is slowly ticking.
----------------------------------------
Back before a portion of my heart
was snatched away from me
"Kibum."
"...Hmm?" He can barely hear now, can barely see.
"You never told me what happened to him."
Kibum smiled faintly. "It was on the day of his...twenty-first birthday."
Screams. Chaos. Blood soaking the white snow.
"He was crossing the road to meet me, and then just like that...he was gone."
His heart is getting weaker.
----------------------------------------
The name that I once loved
travels further away as I call it,
"Kibum."
Kibum doesn't answer, his mouth too dry to speak.
"Tell me what he looks like."
He can barely remember the face of the boy he once loved. "He had chestnut-coloured hair, and eyes as dark as midnight. And a smile...as bright as the sun."
Taemin is here now, and he's crying so hard, holding onto Kibum's hand so tightly it was almost painful.
"E-Everything's going to be okay. You're going to be fine. Don't give up."
Kibum manages a smile, and his dry lips crack. He points to the boy next to his brother, whose name he can't even remember. "You. Take care of my brother, okay...?" Minho doesn't say a word, simply nods.
"D-Don't say that, everything's going to be fine...!" Kibum doesn't like to see his brother cry, but he doesn't even have the strength to wipe those tears away.
The clock is ticking, and his heartbeat is fading.
----------------------------------------
I write down that name, holding back tears,
I want to hide it within myself.
"Kibum. You never told me his name."
Thump. "His name was..." Thump. "Jinki. Lee...Jinki." Thump.
The figure finally emerges from the shadows, and Kibum's eyes widen.
Then he starts to laugh, and tears roll down his cheeks.
"I knew you would come."
Kibum's final wish was, I wish I could see him again.
----------------------------------------
Please understand the days
when I had no choice but to love you
Even a short love, is still love.
Jinki holds out his hand. "Are you ready to go?"
Kibum nods, ears deaf to Taemin's cries.
Black wings unfold from Jinki's back, and Kibum chuckles.
"I see why...they call you...Angel."
Jinki smiles tenderly. "It's time to go, Kibum."
Thump. Thump.
The heart rate monitor goes flat, and Kibum expels his last breath with a smile on his lips.
A single black feather floats down and lands on Kibum's heart.
"He's with Jinki-hyung now," Minho says quietly, holding the crying Taemin tightly against him. "He's finally at peace."
The snow continues to fall.
Kim Kibum. Aged twenty. Cause of Death: Alzheimer's Disease. Date of Death: 14th December.
----------------------------------------
I turn it back a thousand times,
going back to the place I was.
"Aish, Taeminnie is so late..."
Key drummed his fingers impatiently on the table, rummaging for his phone.
He was digging into his bag when there was a crash, and scalding hot coffee spilled all over him.
"Aish, what the hell--"
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!"
He looks up angrily, and a boy with chestnut-coloured hair and deep, midnight eyes apologizes profusely.
"When we die, Kibum, let's meet again in the next life."
The little fluffs of snow drifted gently down, covering the earth with its white splendour.

Random Things Explained:
1. Song on the fic is my personal favourite from their Year of Us album, which is the english translation of Jinki's "The Name I Loved", which is a beautiful song :D
2. Key's illness is Alzheimer's (wiki-it), and Jinki died because of a car running over him.
3. 14th December is Jinki's birthday, so Key died exactly a year after Jinki's death.
4. 'Angel' is the Angel of Death, and it was actually inspired by
this. Yay for Angel Jinki? :D
5. The ending is up to your interpretation. It could be a flashback of Kibum's past of his first meeting with Jinki, or it could be the future, where both of them are reborn, which is why I put the line "When we die, Kibum, let's meet again in the next life.". Pretty much. Lol.
I think that's about it lol. Enjoy? :D
