Yeah, "headline news" seems to be anything but these days. It annoys the crap out of me whenever I sit down to watch the news and all I hear about is stuff like promiscuous politian's and petty arguments between Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump. Gosh, what about the really important stuff?!?

"We do not have a censorship of the press. We have a censorship by the press"

"It is not we who silence the press. It is the press that silenes us. It is not a case of the Commonwealth settling how much the editors shall say. It is a case of the editors settling how much the Commonwealth shall know. If we attack the Press we shall be rebelling, not repressing"

"Modern man is staggering and losing his balance because he is being pelted with little pieces of alleged fact...which are native to the newspapers; and, if they turn out not be facts, that is still more native to the newspapers"

-G.K. Chesterton (quoted in Common Sense 101: Lessons from G.K. Chesterton, pp.67-69, by Dale Ahlquist)

This written by a man whose main occupation was as a journalist. :)
