One of my favorite bumper stickers I once used in an opening paragraph to a story: Welcome to Shit Creek...sorry, we're out of paddles. Actually found it and bought it for the writing teacher who didn't think it actually existed.
I'm out of touch with the music world. What's U2 been up to?
Haha, that's great. Actually, New Zealand almost has a Shit Creek; I remember once reading about a river with a Maori name that translates to something along the lines of "a river a dog shitted in".
U2 - or at least some record company executive - has decided to release another unnecessary, pointless, needless Best Of compilation.
Haha, probably not. I can't think of any Maori place names where the English translation is noted on the sign. Another funny one is Te Urewera National Park, which apparently means "the burnt penis".
Well, it's just that we already have two Best Ofs that cover this material, so it's a rather unnecessary release and some perceive it as a cashgrab. I just see it as a really bad commercial move.
Nope, though I think we can all guess it. Apparently a memo's done the rounds at Universal saying that all the tracks will be from the previous two Best Ofs, but I don't know how reliable that report is.
Spock never had a beard. He had a gotee in the mirror universe. Well, there was one movie where he had a stubble. . .
You'll do fine with the essay.
I think putting out their own biography is cool, but they should have a documentary to go along with it like what The Beatles did. As far as the one disc greatest hits collection I don't have a problem with it. There was too much filler on the 1990's greatest hits collection.
I've no problem with the biography; I think that's pretty cool really and a good way to mark their 30th anniversary. The new Best Of is totally pointless and unnecessary, though. I wouldn't have a problem if it were a "rest of the best" or "best rarities" or something like that, but it's just going to repeat songs from the last two Best Ofs.
That would be awesome. I'd like some kind of live Best Of, considering how U2's reputation was built on their live shows. And there's definitely enough unreleased/out-of-print material to justify an awesome set of rarities discs.

Ah. I fail to see why it's such a big deal. U2 can do what they want.

I hope so!
