Title: Expecting
Author: Axraxshi
Pairing: Matsumiya
Summary: In an alternate history, an unknown disease resulted in the extinction of females. Thankfully evolution saved the human species from dying out.
Disclaimer: Don’t own ‘Ooku’, or Arashi. This is what happens when I let my imagination off its leash. NC-16 (just to be safe)
A/N: This is not really based on ‘Ooku’, just a similar starting. Warning: M-preg (I know this is quite a weird topic for most people, I’m merely a crazy person who wanted to explore this universe) Readers discretion advised.
Prologue:
It was in the beginning of the nineteenth century when an unknown plague arrived on the shores of Japan. The plague wormed its way from the south of the island where it was brought by a foreign vessel all the way north to the harsh environments of Ezo. Like a ticking time bomb, it hung around amongst the shadows, waiting for the local population to be weakened by the coldness of winter before it struck.
The plague was a silent killer, its effects had gone unnoticed till years later when several men had to fight over one female, the population ratio being over twenty men to one lady. It had started quietly, about one or two, before the pandemic went full scale. Almost a dozen at a time, ladies of all ages had begun to fall ill and ultimately died not more than a week later. Nobody knew the cause, nor how it could be combated. Unable to retaliate, nothing could be done as the last female in the country took her final breath.
The country turned to chaos as the men realized there was no way to continue their genetic line. Fights broke out, theft increased exponentially - the Homo Sapiens species would have died out if evolution hadn’t worked its magic.
This miracle was discovered one day amongst the usual disorder that prowled the streets. A man with testosterone raging in his blood stream was searching for someone to satisfy his needs. It came as a pleasant, yet strange surprise when the belly of that someone started ballooning after a few weeks. The news had spread like wild fire and not long, it was established that there were a rare type of men that had the ability to bear children.
Stability was restored during the next century that followed, as the country tried to rebuild its population. During those next hundred years, evolution had tweaked its system - pregnancy was reduced to five months, and there were more of these men, but they were still extremely rare, about one in several thousands. Although uncommon, they were easy to identify - small and cute, but the tell-tale sign was the mole on their chins…
AN: Hopefully that provided a good background for the setting in which this story is going to take place. And I know I said I won’t be posting any more fics, my exams just ended and hurray, fic time! If you managed to make it to the end of the prologue, I thank you for having an open mind. Yes, I know evolution doesn’t work like that or that quickly. Now on to the actual story…
