...

Starscream didn't know why he was here. It was a stupid idea. It was a stupid human tradition. And he didn't even care about this human to begin with.

... Not really anyway.

She was one of the few that, despite his actions, still tried to reach out and befriend him. It was a rather foolish thing for her to do and Starscream started out by trying to use it to his advantage.

Manipulating one of the Autobot's 'pets' seemed like a good plan. He could always use an extra insurance police somewhere along the line.

But he wasn't sure if it were various circumstances or something else that sort of drew him away from the idea all together. Still, the thought lingered in the back of his mind ... just not as prominent as before.

He had no intentions of becoming her friend, if he was even deserving of using that particular word, but he told himself that establishing allies on all sides of the spectrum was a good idea.

Besides, he wouldn't pass on a chance to agitate the Autobots in a setting where they wouldn't shoot him if he didn't ( ... )

Mikaela wasn't...exactly sure who all would be coming - she hadn't made a proper announcement on the comms. Not this year, not when last year had gone so badly. Instead, she'd sent out personal invites to people she considered friends - and yes, that did just so happen to include Starscream.

She's surprised to see him walk through the door, but she's very obviously pleased by his arrival. Setting her cup down, she moves over to stand in front of him, looking way, way up to his face.

"Hey! I'm so glad you came!"

He stared down at the human female. He wasn't particularly used to being around humans. Well, not when shooting at them or taunting the Autobots with them.

Hesitating for a brief moment he seems to consider his options before ultimately kneeling down in front of her. Though it didn't place them at eye level, it did bring them much closer.

"... I was just curious. Don't think I came for your benefit."

His gaze drifted back towards the rest of the room before returning to her.

"So I guess this is where I asked how you feel about surviving to live another year?" He would smirk slightly at that.

She steps back on instinct when he kneels, hands coming to settle on her hips as her lips threaten to pull into a bigger grin.

"Oh, I totally wouldn't dream of it. Curiosity, got it."

Looking over her shoulder as she follows his gaze, choking back a laugh.

"Yeah, it sounds like a good time to ask. I feel great about it, and I'm hoping to survive another one." If she's lucky, anyway.

Most of the time, to Kang, it felt like he'd been in Axiom for far longer than a year. More like three or four, really. Mikaela's birthday, though, seemed like it had happened only a few months ago. Maybe it was just because he'd never celebrated his own birthday, or anybody else's except the girls before he'd been snatched from Krynn; none of the males knew the exact day they'd been created.

It had never bothered him before, not knowing, and it didn't really bother him now. He was here to spend some time with a friend. The bozak had a plain blue bag with him, and he was in a good mood as he came into the building, looking for the birthday girl.

The birthday girl shouldn't he hard to find, she's currently poking around on a side table, making sure the punch bowl stays full and there's plenty of food for the humans, and energon for the 'bots.

Mikaela's adjusting the bowl ever so slightly at the moment, pondering if she should add more rum or leave it.

Screw it. She dumps the rest of the bottle in.

Ah, there she was. Kang grinned when he saw her and came over, "This should be a good party."

She jerks around, looking like someone who got caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

"Heeeey, Kang." Once she knows it's him, she isn't so secretive about what she's doing, and she casually tosses the now empty bottle of rum into the trash.

"Punch?"

Mikaela comes thundering down the stairs when she hears someone arrive early, and she grins and waves as she hits the bottom step with a thump.

"Ratchet! Hey, I'm so happy you came~!"

"Oooh, thank you!" Mikaela takes the box curiously, giving it a tiny shake before she actually tugs the lid off and opens it.

Practically strutting into the darn place is Soundwave, having one human-sized long package in one hand and another wee package in the other that is undoubtedly some sort of baked good.

"The FUN HAS ARRIVED! What up, Birthday Gal!"

He has no qualms about being as loud as possible. Mostly, he's just happy for Mikaela -- and trying to increase that joy as much as possible by being present.

And naturally, most notably, his vocals are working again. Rock on.

Mikaela enjoys the loudness - and she bounds over to him, standing before the much taller robot, beaming up with a bright smile on her face.

"Soundwave~! I'm so glad you're here! Thank you so much for co- oooh what's that in your hand?"

She did notice the whole text thing, but...he seems okay now, which is awesome!

"In one hand!" Soundwave crouches down and sets the box down before Mikaela. "Cheesecake. I dunno, it was recommended to me, so I rolled with it, yeah?

"AAAAAND in the other hand." The wrapped gift is settled before her. "Yer birthday present. TA-DAH!"

She scurries closer, expression very eager.

"Oh man, I love cheesecake." Eyes wide, she ever so carefully taste tests it without even leaving a mark. "It's good, too."

"Ooh, you got me something?" Perking up even more, she reaches to pick it up and give it a little shake. What could it be, what could it be?

"What is it?" She's asking even as she's starting to open it.

He wasn't planning to be here long. Just to stop in, see to Mikaela, and leave again. Even with the little ones being functional again, he was loathe to leave them for any length of time. Especially without someone to look after them...

As quietly as a five ton robot could, Ironhide poked his head into the room, attempting, at least, to keep his expression relaxed and wipe all traces of fatigue from it.

He's been here, really. Okay, no. He decided he'd be fashionably late- which is something that takes some doing considering the place is a usual haunt for him.

Graham's just absolutely giddy to see so many robots coming over. He recognizes a few from the network, and he'd certainly make his greetings to them- but then there's a face he hadn't seen in quite a while. Beaming from ear to ear, the mechanic all but scrambles over to see the Autobot.

"...'HIIIIIIDEY~!"

Ironhide twitched. He actually twitched, his engine turning over with a low sound of displeasure. Oh... how he hated that nickname. His good optic narrowed, and he glowered down at the human scrambling towards him. Of all the people to run into here...

"Quit calling me that," he growled. "What do you want?"

Graham grinned; it was the reaction he was expecting. Such nostalgia to hear it again after so long!

"Can't a guy say hello to an' old pal?!" he chirped, trotting around the Autobot's foot, eyeballing exterior damages that he was sure the guy didn't have the last time he'd seen him. Of course, that was a really long while ago. "Wow, what in the world have you been up to??"
