Living Nightmare

Her head hurt. It wasn’t powerful- more a dull ache then any real pain; like a day old bruise or a scabbing cut. Still, it was enough that when she woke that she groaned, bringing her hand to press against her face. She couldn’t remember ever having a headache before (well that wasn’t quite true; she had had quite the headache after she upgraded ( Read more... )

When she'd woken that day, the Nexus had seemed different, again.

That lacking bit that was Sari that had been missing for the last few days was around again, or seemed like it was, and in her curiosity she'd gotten up earlier than she needed to for work, and headed for the Autobot house.

...

Now that she was here, it certainly felt like Sari.

She couldn't deny that.

And it also seemed entirely, completely wrong.

Especially since she could hear the scream from outside.

That...wasn't good.

It was not good enough that she was already forming a breach of darkness at her fingertips, hoping she had enough of a memory of Sari's room to guess the corridors right--
And coming out right in front of her door.

It was a good start, though...so she knocked.

"Sari? Sari, are you alright?"

No; she most definitely was not alright. Whimpering and starting to curl into herself, the knock and familiar voice briefly startles her out of the memory.

"N-Namine-?"

"It....yes. I'm here." She replied to a crack in the door, unsure what the...odd...new...colors in Sari were, or why they'd suddenly appeared where they had not been, before.

People did not suddenly have new colors, or lose old colors--not unless someone had been toying with their hearts...and even if she couldn't see anyone's memories but Sora's she still had a very, very good idea that this 'new' here was not good.

"You've been gone for three days. The...large robot like a firetruck has been worried about you. I couldn't find you in the Nexus, anywhere. You weren't here. Why are you screaming?"

The topic was a quick jump, but the last question was the most important.

"T-three days?" How could she have been gone for three days? Last thing she remembered was arguing with Optimus and-

-explosions, screams, amusement-

She cries out, clutching her head again- attempting to stop the sudden onslaught of memories.

When he recharges, he isn't... like the other bots. Not really. When he's aware, he can keep that fragging part of himself quiet. Utterly silent. But at night--

At night, he does not dream his own dreams. He has not for a long time now. Occasionally, ever since he touched the processor of him, there is the overwhelming rage and violence that haunts him, but they are just flashes.

He can handle it.

This, though. This is new.

Soundwave comes back online with a groan, touching his helm as he sits up. Did he just imagine that scream?

He glances around curiously.

Nope, that wasn't his imagination.

Soundwave throws himself onto his feet and makes his way through the base. It's larger than the last one, so it takes him longer to figure out where he's going until he slowly finds himself outside of Sari Sumdac's door.

Hesitantly, he knocks on the door with a clang.

"Yo?" he calls out.

Curled tightly on her covers, Sari whimpers. Namine had been able to distract her from the haunting thoughts well enough, and once she was able to almost ignore the terrors, exhaustion over took her and she fell back asleep. It didnt last though, as her (no, not her's) memories turned to nightmares which twisted to include her loved. That has been what Soundwave heard- her screaming awake, clutching her head and willing the horrors away.

Flinching at the loud clang, she rubs at her puffy eyes and glances at the door, before shakily calling out.

"W-who's there-?

Poor girl. Truly, his ember goes out to her; he can hear how shaken up she is. And it's--

"Sari?!" He sounds surprised. "Weren't you-- When did you get back?"

There's a pause, and he exhales through his vents. "It's Soundwave, li'l dudette. Uh, the not-boring or creepy version."

"'W-'Wave-?" What was he doing here? Wait- where was Namine-? Wasnt she here with her? Did- did she disappear again? How much time had passed-? Where was Optim-

-the mech (it was Optimus why was it Optimus-?) raised his hand pleadingly to her, crying out to her before she fired and incinerated his head and-

She screamed- grabbing her head and whipping it side to side, desperate to to get the images outoutout-!
