Perceptor had little to do now that Depth Charge had gone off in search of this X creature. With his housemate gone, and with his application to work with the local police force in what seemed like bureaucratic hell, he had few options.

And so he'd turned to the gladiatorial arenas.

If - no, when, he reminded himself - he returned home, he would need to have sharpened his combat skills considerably. These arenas, if he survived them, would aid him in this regard, and furthermore provide him with a source of income.

He filled out his paperwork - even the illegitimate arenas seemed to like it - and waited for his turn, eventually entering the ring, his high-powered optics adjusting perfectly to the bright lights.

Grimlock's optics, however, must be deceiving him as his opponent walks into the ring.

"It not possible," he blurts as he sees the prissiest of Autobots make his way in. "Perceptor! Are stupid promoter mechs making you fight against will? This not a place for scientist!"

Smacking this guy is only satisfying when he won't shut up with the 10-credit words, not in stakes like this. He not deserve brutality...

Grimlock. He's only ever heard of the Dynobot, a troublesome and dangerous Autobot. The last he knew, said Dynobot and the rest of his reckless crew had been lost somewhere in the depths of space, though he'd heard rumors of them recently resurfacing on Earth.

Still, it wasn't his problem.

What he did know was that Grimlock was dangerous.

He peered at this one. Likely not his own. He'd learned to spot subtle differences, tell-tale alterations which bespoke of the variations between the various Primax natives. This was not the Grimlock from his universe, likely.

And that still didn't matter.

Perceptor was very, very used to people underestimating him these days. Every last one of them had been very sorry, shortly before they'd been very dead.

With a soft click, Perceptor drew his twin pistols and spun them with a flourish, not speaking, his one enhanced optic narrowing at the huge Dynobot.

He did not speak. He merely waited.

Grimlock is still new to this alternate-universe strangeness. Yes, he notices the optic damage, and moreso notices the complete lack of verbal vomit that so characterized Perceptor.

Still, he suspects it's from damage sustained in these pits.

"Me Grimlock join fight circuit because me expect to fight warriors!" he bellows out toward the luxury boxes. "There no honor in fighting intellectual nerd! Me Grimlock not abuse strength for slaughter!"
