It had taken most of the rest of Wing's energy to extricate himself from Magnum...at least temporarily. He knew what had been promised, knew the conditions of his release.

It weighed on him far more than the Great Sword had.

He'd been told to see Property Division, in the morning, which he knew by now meant there would be paperwork--and possibly money--involved. That was for morning. Now he found himself wandering aimlessly, not sure he wanted to return to the apartment, but not sure where else to go.

He flinched when he heard the voice behind him, turning, managing something like a sincere smile. "Perceptor." Well, this was awkward. "I...'ve been released."

For one horrible moment, Perceptor had been afraid that he'd made a mistake, that it had been nothing more than wishful thinking tricking him into seeing Wing instead of a stranger.

And then Wing had turned.

Perceptor's core clenched painfully, with relief or concern, he wasn't quite certain. Still, it spurred him into a jog to close the distance between them, stumbling to a halt at arm's length.

"You have!" he exclaimed dumbly, relieved to see Wing out, even minus his Greatsword. His relief stuttered, though, as something occurred to him. "Magnum?"

Please let it not have been Magnum's influence after all. Please.

"Yes." The pinions of his shoulder engines slicked down, almost drooping. "He apparently paid for my release."

He let the sentence and all its import hang between them for a moment. He'd warned Perceptor not to deal with the Decepticon, and what had he done? Accepted something far more binding, far more sinister.

"You look...well." A lame attempt to change the subject, to throw something into the gulf between them.

Damn. Worse than damn. Perceptor wilted, guessing from the tone of Wing's voice, from that lambent glow of golden optics, that Wing... knew what Perceptor had done.

Of course. Magnum would likely have delighted in telling him.

"I couldn't leave you there."

Hardly a comforting admission, and not one that Perceptor had meant to speak aloud, but it had slipped out. He balled his fists up at his sides, forcing himself to maintain optic contact, to not duck away like a coward.

"You do not," he replied bluntly, wincing at his own bluntness. "That is... you appear... worn, Wing."
