So enough people have said "WTF? Tumor?" that I feel a brief explanation is in order.
The summer before I turned 16 (2000) I had some trouble balancing. I got dizzy very easily, and if something was thrown past my eyes, I had trouble tracking it. Oh, plus I became violently nauseated once or twice .So we checked out my inner ear. It was fine. Uh oh... That can only mean...
I had a juvenile cerebellar astrocytoma. It was operated on at Children's Hospital, and a large lump of flesh was removed from my head. Post-op, the only lasting side-effect is a deep and lasting fear of anything mucking around with my brain function. And I have to get an MRI every year to make sure the pea-sized tumor that remains lodged in my brain is just chilling out and not getting huge and pulsating.
