Chapter 10-Abord the Pirate Ship
Matthew had taken off running in the forest, he wasn’t sure where he was trying to get to, as long as he kept running he was fine. He stumbled a few times, but never stopped. Running, that’s all he could focus on. Matt had ran into several vines hanging lowly from a tree. He struggled to get them all off of him, and in doing so he tripped over a nice sized rock and fell to the ground. He didn’t want move now that he was on the ground. It was then he realized he was crying. He whipped his face trying to dry it. Matt laid there for a few moments before his thoughts caught up to him. Why had he asked Alfred about his feelings? Why did it matter what his feelings were? Why did he bring up growing up? Why did he care about Alfred’s feelings? Most importantly, why had Alfred’s words hurt?
Matthew sniffled and finally got off the ground, he slowly walked in no particular direction, seeing as he didn’t know the directions around here. He had finally managed to find the tiny house the Lost Boys had built around him, after he fell out of the sky. He opened the door, and crawled inside, shutting the door behind him. He knew the home where his brothers were was from the house, but he felt that he didn’t belong there anymore. Matt removed his glasses, and slowly drifted off to sleep.
Alfred had flown back to the mainland, in search of Matthew’s home. He searched the city for it, specifically the window he led Matt, Jack and Peter out of. Alfred had finally found it, and noticed it was wide open. He had expected the window to be shut, so he could take Matthew here and show him that his parents didn’t want him so Matt would stay with Alfred and never want to grow up. Alfred leaned against the side of the house and peered into the window. What was more surprising than the window being open, was that Katyusha was sleeping in a chair, in front of it. Alfred watched her as her sleeping eyes searched her dreams for her adopted children.
Alfred heard the mumble of names as Katyusha slept, the name he heard the most, was the one he trying to convince to stay with him. A flicker of anger flashed through him. He frowned, his eyebrows furrowing together.
“We can’t both have him, lady.” He whispered angrily. He quietly began to pull the window down. When the window was finally shut, Alfred moved back to his spot on the side of the house and watched carefully, to see if anybody would noticed.
The moment the window was shut, Katyusha’s eyes fluttered open. She gasped and practically jumped out of her chair. She searched each bed.
“Peter! Jack!” She moved to Matthew’s bed, “Matthew!” But they were not there. She spun around quickly, noticing the window was shut. “The window is closed!” She ran over and began to try and open it. She struggled with the window. “Ivan! Ivan!” She cried out.
Ivan came running into the room and saw that Katyusha was struggling with opening the window.
“It must always be open for them!” She sobbed. Ivan began to help her open the window.
Alfred was on the other side of the glass, struggling in the air to keep it shut. But his child strength wasn’t a match for two adults. Katyusha and Ivan had opened the window. Alfred flew up and over the house to be kept out of sight.
“They haven’t returned.” Ivan mumbled sadly. Katyusha gasped, and placed a hand over her mouth. She walked back over to her chair and sat down it, crying softly to herself.
Matthew awoke with the sounds of wood creaking and waves lapping against a solid surface. He rolled onto his back and looked up at the ceiling. Matt reached his arm out to grab his glasses and put them back on his face. He felt as if the ground was rocking beneath him.
Matthew opened the door, and found that he was aboard the pirate ship. His eyes wandered about the ship. He wondered about why the deck was deserted, and what was the song playing in the background.
“A vast belay the Russian brig/we took and quickly sank” Matt made his way toward the door where the song was being played from. He noticed the plaque on the door that said ‘Nicholas Spigot’ on it. He pushed it open. Toris was waiting near the door, he noticed Matthew wandering in and put a finger to his lips to keep Matt silent. “And for a warning to the crew/we made them walk the plank/Yo ho, yo ho the frisky plank” Toris looked down at Matthew.
“Wrote it himself.” He whispered.
“he walk along it so/Till it goes down/and you’s go down/To tooral looral loo.” Spigot finished the song, and eyed the spot where Matthew and Toris stood, “Matthew...child, welcome.” He said a smirk dancing on his lips. Toris led Matthew over to a large table, and had him take a seat. He took Matthew’s napkin and handed to Matt. Who took it and placed it in his lap. Toris then grabbed a pitcher and turned back to Matt.
“Rum?” Toris offered. Matt gave him a confused look.
“But I’m too young to have that.” Matt explained.
“Vodka, then.” Spigot pushed Toris out of the way and became eye level with Matthew.
“I’ve been told you ran away from home.” Spigot stated.
“I-I have never thought of it that way!” Matt said shocked.
Arthur had flown into the room, and stumbled across some scattered items, and into glass case. Spigot frowned at him, and motioned for Toris to deal with Arthur. Toris proceeded to lock Arthur in the case, mouthing an apology to the faerie. Arthur began pounding at the glass.
“I suppose...I did...” Matthew whispered.
“How wonderful, da?” Spigot smiled.
“My parents wanted me to grow up.”
“Ugh what a barbarous business, growing up is. What an inconvenience, really.” Spigot sat down in his chair across from Matt.
“Things were easier when I was younger.” Spigot sighed, Matthew looked at the table.
“And then the mess starts, and feelings come. Ah Jones is so lucky to not be bothered by them.” Matthew looked up quickly at Spigot. Spigot, who had to begun raise his glass, stopped and looked at the boy, “Oh no, he cannot love. It’s part of the riddle of his being.” Matt looked back down at the table, trying to blink away the tears that were yet again forming in his eyes.
Spigot got up from his chair and moved over to Matthew’s side.
“There, there.” He said using his napkin to wipe away the tears that were falling down Matt’s face, “Did you ever want to become a pirate, lad?” He asked happily. Matt couldn’t help but smile a bit.
“I once thought of calling myself...”
“Yes?”
“Black Dagger Dan.”
“What a marvelous name!” Toris clapped his hands together happily, though his face said otherwise, “That’s what we’ll call you if you join us!”
“What would my duties be? I think I’m still a bit young to go pillaging.”
“Lad, have you ever considered, telling stories?”Matt thought about it, it was rather un-masculine, especially for a pirate, but when he really thought about it, it’s what he came here in the first place to do anyways.
“I suppose...” Matt whispered. Spigot grabbed Matthew by the wrist and pulled him outside, he shouted for the crew, and told them that they were getting a story.
Matthew told the story, and had everyone entranced by his words. And when he finished there was much cheering for another story. But Spigot had taken Matthew and led him to his tiny house.
“Do you think, I could have some time to think about your offer?” Matt asked nervously.
“Of course, boy. You can have as much time as you need. My crew will return you from where they found you.” Spigot eyed his crew, “None of them will follow you, I swear it. My new obsession is you. Not that Jones kid or where he’s hiding.” Matthew smiled.
“What would Katyusha think...if I became a pirate! After all, she is still my mother. Even if it isn’t by blood.” Matt said. Spigot waved.
“Until we meet again.”
~!A/n!~
Okay the name "Black Dagger Dan" really all I did was went to a "Pirate Name Generator" and messed around until I found a name that fit. Since Wendy calls herself "Red-handed Jill" [in the book and movie trufax]
The song Russia sings is from the movie, I changed the lyrics to fit him. namely I just changed it from "English brig" to "Russian Brig" xD
But alright, yay we are getting closer and closerto the end of this story. |D;;;
As always Comments are love~ <33
