See, in my mind, there are only two icon makers who consistently make my fangirl bits go squee. That would be you and C4J.

So, for lack of a better word, I'm your groupie.

When I see "elitist" communities spring up without you or Jenn as contributors, it makes me realize how egocentric people can be and how others have a very very laid back nature and share whatever they can.

You give so much to the various fandoms in general, and never fail to share your [airquotes] secrets [end airquotes] on how you create such beautiful icons.

Therefore, I am hereby decreeing September 19, 2005 as AWMP appreciation day. I will do nothing today except think about you and how much I want to have sex with you respect and admire your talents.

Cheers, my friend.

if it was your goal for today to make me want to have sex with you blush furiously then I can tell you you've accomplished your task very successfully.

*blushes even more*

I had no idea the technique was this simple. I thought for sure you had a large amount of layers. Definitely going to incorporate a few of these steps where I can. Thank you very much for sharing this and adding this entry to my memories. =)

I love your tutorials! They're so helpful and like, useful. I am going so crazy with those tutorials you get like 99% of the time "add this gradient made by [insert lj user], now add this brush made by [another lj user]" lather rinse repeat. DONE!! *headdesk*

PS The left rules. They must win. Hope they do =) I need a thread of hope here, you know lol. All the elections I've followed recently.. Holland = conservatives. US = conservatives. England = labour party (pseudo conservatives) *tears hair out*

I am so with you on those tutorials. I'm not the world's greatest icon maker (ha! far from it!), but even I look at those tuts and think "but what are you teaching me here? How to add [insert lj user]'s textures and brushes?". The entire tut is made up of adding textures and brushes, and then we're told not to duplicate it but make something else instead. Huh? How can I make something completely different when you're saying "add this texture" and "add this brush"? Am I making any sense here?

Which is why I adore awmp. She shows us the good stuff!!! (and I don't care what anyone says - I love love love the actions post she did a while back - I'm still playing with them, and ripping them apart!)

heh..i like that you named your photoshop! how cute!

i knew about the layers and the blending options, but i never even touched the curves stuff..i have to look into this! and what i have no clue about is those colour layers. how do you choose what to add? say i get the first yellow-ish one..but how come blue after that? theres no blue in the pic:o is it because it then gets more greenish? sorry for all the dumb-ish questions!

also OT: ugh@the whole election fiasco..decide already! :-/ (also not fond of the conservative option)

it's a matter of experience. I played around with colors and blending modes a lot, and for example the light blue on color burn (and a low opacity) increases the red tones... there are certain colors/blending modes I'm using a lot. standards so to speak.
other than that it's just palying around until you like the look of it :)

ps: Erich was named after Erich Fried *g*
