My first LJ entry - yay! Originally, I wasn't sure if I should create an LJ account since noone would read my entries anyway. Besides, I live in Germany, so my English isn't very good either ( Read more... )

What's wrong with rambling? I ramble all the time! I spent last weekend with my friend Patricia in Port Townsend, and our conversations rambled all over the place.

About your English: I beg to differ. Your English is very good. My German, on the other hand, is extremely bad. Thanks to once having had a German boyfriend, I can say a few words, but I never did get the hang of the punctuation. But hey, as long as I can order ice cream and beer, what else do I need?

Hooray for rambling! :D

Deutsche Interpunktion ist wirklich schwer. Sogar die meisten Deutschen haben damit Probleme.

Listen and repeat! Just kidding. But do you understand the sentences? (Google translator for the win?)
Well, as long as you are able to order something to eat and to drink, you will survive in Germany!

Did you by chance meet your german ex-boyfriend via your sister? I read she lives in Germany right now and was wondering... Or is it just a coincidence? (Sorry that I'm so nosy)

No, I met my German ex through a pair of matchmaking friends. They set up an 'accidental' meeting in the library between us, and we ended up going out for about a year and a half. Then my husband came along and stole me from him!

My sister no longer lives in Germany. She lives in my city now. But she used to live in Frankfurt and I visited her there. This was long before the German bf.

Deutsche Artikulation ist auch wirklich schwierig!

Haha, I like your friends! They made a good choice, didn't they?

The best friend of my little sister comes from Frankfurt, too! The funny thing is that her parents called her Franca.

Du hast aber keinen einzigen Rechtschreibfehler gemacht. ;)

Well, it was good while he lasted. He was very handsome, too. But I didn't love him enough to marry him.

No mistakes, huh?

Das ist, weil ich ein Internetübersetzungsprogramm verwendete!

My sister is the one who can speak German fluently. I'm still monolingual, despite the fact that Canada has two official languages.

Man there are some super long words in the German language!

Yeah, Internetübersetzungsprogramm is already pretty long, but check out this:

Kugelschreiberzusammenbauanleitungsservicenummer

I love this word! :D

Oh that's right, as I recall, French is the second official language in Canada, isn't it? Does it mean that everything is bilingual there, too?
