geez, that property line... sometimes i tend to forget that natalia was pretty much a slave to the RR... it's really about human slavery.

I was wondering if anyone would catch that! Clint doesn't... quite. He makes the assumption she's talking about an object she's taken and she lets him, because they're not anywhere near close enough for that yet. (I'd kind of hoped it would come back up during their "drinks in the dark" conversation but it didn't.) It will entirely depend on how long it takes them to have that conversation whether or not he'll recall the line later, but it's one of my favorite little touches.

My headcanon Red Room actually has/raises both male and female operatives, but the program Natasha was in, specifically (spy/seduction/assassination) was all girls.

(oh gah, this is calling up some off the grid feels! 'They don't own us. They don't own you, Natasha; please god, believe me.' **UGLY GROSS SOBBING**)Can't. I Can. Not. That story - that part, in particular. They did such a good job of describing ( ... )

At some point, I am going to need to go back and reread the whole damn story (probably with your mix going) and trying and get some catharsis over it all but I'm not where I can do that yet.

okay so, for full effect, from the beginning of the chapter to the end of the dialogue part, just listen to death pt 2. the entire build up and flood of feelings at that point should crescendo in time with music... well, depending on your reading speed of course, but generally.

Oh god. That might kill me.
