Phil! And his feelings. And Clint! Despite the fact that his relationships have probably been healthier than Natasha's he hasn't been lost in someone before. Love how both are reacting to the physical threat (from SHIELD) but also from the emotional threat they pose to each other.
And Natasha is starting to throw together a plan. It may not be workable, but at least she's trying to think of a way through this. I could totally see Natasha and Clint going off-grid (or at least trying to).
If anyone in the Red Room had seen her performance these last few days she'd already have a bullet in her skull (at best), or be reprogrammed (at worst).
Well that's telling. She'd rather die then be reprogrammed, and from her perspective the soul-bond is an attempt by the universe to reprogram her.

I suppose the training she received was subtly different or something? But other than a basic desire to be free from other people's control, she hasn't had a ( ... )

It's coming, I swear. I think I've finally wrestled down one of the main things that was slowing the process down. (I also am doing a weird writing-equivalent to "nesting" and am having the urge to get as many WIPs done before NaNoWriMo starts next month as I can. There's no way that I'll be done with Heavy by then, but I'm hoping to make a heck of a lot more headway, more quickly than I have been.)

Eeeee! Ohmygosh this comment is epic. :D \O/ indeed!
Oh, Natasha. Natasha, Natasha, Natasha. I read what you wrote in response to someone's comment on the last chapter about how Clint was all wrapped up in his emotions and had to get things straight in his head, whereas Natasha is the opposite. Is she ever. I wanted to smack her a little because of her attitude towards this whole thing, but not because it was out of character, more because yes, indeed, this is how she would react. And I want to smack her for it! I didn't get really irritated, though, until she started thinking about "stashing Clint away". Wha-huh?! Like he's a locket you don't want someone to steal?! He clearly has come to respect her.One thing I ( ... )
