WHYYYYYYYYYY? Makes me understand your Fury so much better. I wonder if Nick ever figured out what really happened (with her being indoctrinated since birth and her family being threatened) and punished those responsible? Or did he just shut it all away and try to forget about it? (Might be something for Coulson and/or Hill to track down for him if he has only a warped memory of her)

And I don't even like soul-bonded fic! *sobs quietly*

P.S. Is stakeout one word or two?

So far, no. He has no idea what happened, he's made assumptions, but hasn't ever found out any information about how she was being manipulated, because he was too traumatized (at first) and the too angry to look.

The insights into each other's souls! I absolutely adore that. And it makes so much sense that the other person would have all sorts of insights into things that the other person might not want to share or be able to share! I think this is that exact thing that is the clenchet for why Fury did what he did and even why all the rest of them do what they do. It is such a powerful image, the reading of souls.

Yay! I'm so glad that comes across... I know people have been speculating about how it's all going to work (and I'm terrible at remembering that just because *I* know how the rules work, that doesn't mean anyone reading does yet, because I haven't said/shown) -- I was hoping this would not only explain Fury a bit better but convey some of that. :)
