I'd never thought about that before but Kenneth was literally unmade, not that much different from Natasha and the Red Room...

Really like this. The parallels here, there's a poetry to it. (In a kind of messed-up way.)

Thank you! That's pretty much what I was going for, so I'm glad it came through!

Oh, this hurts. In all honesty, I don't like this idea of them changing, becoming other than Aaron and Marta - because that's who I became attached to, that's who i loved, and I don't want those identities to vanish, those people to vanish.

And yet, they'll have to.

My heart is kinda tearing itself apart over this.

Oh! ::hugs::

Sorry about that. The idea really hurts me, too - I think I like to see them as keeping a core of themselves with each other, though. And I kind of hope that maybe, if they're growing and changing *together* it will turn them into fuller, better versions of themselves, if that makes any kind of sense?

*hugs back* Hey, the hurt means that it's a powerful fic/idea. It's the permanency of the change here that creates the ache, but if they do maintain those cores, I think that would ease it. It does make sense, and if they ended up happy - if they ended up whole (and together, I'm such a 'shipper) - that would be worth it.

I don't know, I just automatically associated the changes with a dark future or drifting apart and become steel-edged, knife-scarred. What does that say about me? But yeah, if it were a brighter future, a softer place than what I imagined... then I could embrace the change.

I think... for me, the entire reason they run (besides, ok yes, they want to live) is because they do want to keep themselves and who they are. Or maybe that's why they run *together* - at least a part of why she doesn't leave when he gives her the choice.

I think I would like to read fic (occasionally) where it ended darkly - because I occasionally like darkfic - but mostly I prefer (and would prefer to write) the kind where things are hopeful. That would be more my own headcanon.

I think the darker stuff is the more plausible, given the situation, in a lot of ways. But I've got this whole "it's my headcanon, I can do what I want to" thing going on. ;)
