So, damn, this is so worthy of the movie that I started thinking, "Well, if we'd gotten this version there would have been a lot more JR screen time for me to perv over... hmm..."
- Poor Fury and Hill.
- Loki'd Natasha, getting bored with the easy stuff and looking forward to going after Clint = yes.
- Creepy bastard Loki is a creepy bastard
- Yay I liked the fight! Nose-busting and kissing and biting hot damn :D
- The ending: awwww. *hugs it*
Since I'm still on a gif kick:

::blushes:: thank you! What you pointed out really did help. Once I played out the whole scene it was much easier to write. :D
I have wanted to read a fic tackling this premise for a while and this was perfect, exactly what I hope for. Loved the twist of Nat killing Fury because, let off the leash like that, she would always go the much further. So many subtle and clever changes to what happened in the movie that just worked so well. This was awesome. Eeeeeee! Thank you thank you! I'm so glad you liked it ( ... )

Thank you! :D
I love the way you've twisted and adjusted the details of the events of the film to fit Natasha, rather than her to them; they all work so brilliantly. Particularly killing Fury, as much as I was like "NO!" when I read it, it definitely fits and sets the scene for the rest of the story. The explanations of why Natasha wants her challenge to be Clint, too, they're fantastic. The ice/water/heat images are perfect, so much a tie-in to her history.:) I kept going back over transcripts and trying to play different angles in my head. I ended up making the decision not to include more scenes (like the argument in the lab - which I imagine would be very different without Fury in there) because while they changed, they didn't change substantially enough and weren't directly related to Clint and Nat. But I really loved seeing how (in particular) the conversation with Bruce ended up playing out. I don't know that I'd anticipated it being that different, but then it was. (Well, relatively.)
