Dazed and confused | The Rockit [Open]

Oct 01, 2010 23:42

Matthew wakes up feeling as though he's been sitting here for ages. He doesn't know exactly where he is, per se, until his eyes manage to focus on the almost-empty room around him. Slowly but surely, he recognizes this place.

He's tucked into a corner, like someone saw him lying on the floor, thought he was passed out drunk, and just broomed him ( Read more... )

There is a familiar face in the Rockit, currently. Gideon had been trying to distract himself from his current injuries--which he absolutely detested bearing-- for the whole day now. His first approach had been to immerse himself in his work like he always did, but that had proved too taxing to continue.

His second option was to just hole up in some little club and drink deep. He had to be careful-- couldn't let himself get too far gone. But that wasn't stopping him from drinking speedily through his first bottle. His jacket was pulled up a bit and he was generally trying to merge back into the shadows, to avoid the public eye.

Matthew takes a brief moment to try to collect himself, wincing a little as the pain suddenly intensifies all through him, then slowly begins to taper off into a steady sort of agony. He rubs the back of his neck with his fingertips, his elbows leaning against the table. He feels like he's been bruised everywhere that he'd been punched, that day--however long ago that WAS, he thinks to himself, which judging by the cleanup job was long, long ago--and he longs for some ibuprofen, or better yet, a bed.

He glances around at the idle clubgoers, figuring that it must not be too late if so few people are here (or maybe this place just sucks as much as he'd thought it did to begin with). He doesn't see any faces that intrigue him until he spots a familiar mop of jet-black hair trying to hide an unhappy face that Matthew remembers all too well. Gideon Graves, his mind echoes ( ... )

Gideon can tell that someone is approaching, and he gives a light sigh of aggravation under his breath at being disturbed yet again--until he makes out who it is that's wandering over to him.

"Patel," he smirks a little despite himself, glad to see another Ex. Even if Matthew does look pained and bewildered and disoriented--exactly how he felt after waking up in the Chaos Theater. "Welcome back to the land of the living."

Matthew stops, actually a bit surprised that Gideon talks to him so readily. He'd never gotten the impression that Gideon was particularly fond of him, especially in relation to the other Exes, so the fact that Gideon initiates the conversation is a little bit of a shocker. And for Matthew, who respects Gideon a great deal, it's also a bit of an honor.

But he can't seem to grasp formalities yet: so he just stares up at Gideon, confused by what he's just said. "...So...I did die?" he asks, not sure how to come to terms with that. Didn't his mother always say something about being reincarnated after death...? He's pretty sure that you aren't supposed to be reincarnated as yourself, though. Something is very wrong here, if Pilgrim did in fact kill him.

You might notice Ramona walking around the Rockit, but she doesn't seem to notice Matthew.

He might try to get her attention? Or wait to see if she notices him first. Either way, Ramona seems pretty sullen, which is an expression that she rarely shows to anyone, especially out in the open like this.

Shaken, Matthew casts an uncertain glance around the room at the sparse group of people populating it. He can't help but notice a brightly-colored head of hair bobbing around a few yards away, completely oblivious to his presence at the table in the corner and obviously wrapped up in problems of her own. His heart freezes when he sees her. If she's here, that can only mean that Scott isn't far behind. And in his current state, Scott Pilgrim is the last person that Matthew wants to see.

So he sinks further down in his chair, hoping that Ramona doesn't notice him.

Ramona just looks around, not really for anyone in particular. She was just kind of lonely, and walking around...

Well, until she walked past where Matthew was sitting. He might notice that Scott's nowhere to be found as far as she knows, but she did feel like the person she just passed was someone she remembered...

"No dude, seriously! I have to cancel Shatterband's show next week. I can't find Kim." Scott said as he followed the manager of the Rockit. Not only was their first show ever not going to happen due to Kim not being anywhere, but also Scott had a weird feeling something was off since he could have sworn he saw himself. Maybe even Gideon. but he just convinced himself it was just all the extra hours he was putting in working at the Happy Avocado.

"Whatever." said the manager hardly paying attention to Scott.

Taking that as a form of acceptance Scott stepped out from the back stage area into the club and was about to head to the bar to order something to drink when he saw someone sitting in a corner and instantly he lunged forward so he could point at Matthew with an almighty finger of accusation.

"YOU-"

Which drew some attention from what little amount of people where there. Then Scott rubbed his chin with said finger trying to dig through his memory.

"look familiar."
