because on the one paw, 'walk!' and on the other paw, 'Sherlock'.

Eeee! This part made me grin like a loon. I love ambivalent!Gladstone. I can just hear his inner enthusiasm for walks and his utter lack of enthusiasm for Sherlock.

Very nice reunion fic. I like that John manages to be furious and yet still be a doctor. And I'm pleased that Sherlock just had to learn to get along with everyone in John's new living situation. And by everyone I mean Gladstone, obviously.

It's funny, because this is stolen from a fic I wrote shortly after Reichenbach, which has the POVs of Mrs H, John, Lestrade and Sherlock on coming home. I needed to get it out of my system, but I've never posted it. Anyway, that version didn't have Gladstone, and John's reaction was far less hostile and more shock. So, either Gladstone or Sarah has made this version of John decide not to take any crap, because he seriously was not putting up with it while I was trying to write it, and so I just let him run with it.

At first, John was simply annoyed that Sherlock had thought locking Gladstone away was the best way to deal with him. Then he realized how absolutely impossible it was that Sherlock was even there to be annoyed by.

Yesss, this, love this part!

This was great. I really wanted to see Sherlock’s first interactions with Gladstone, and this was so exciting. I’m so glad they warmed to each other eventually, and I agree that John’s mixed feelings toward Sherlock were certainly confusing Gladstone as well.

I like to think Gladstone proved himself the way John did--by protecting Sherlock even if he didn't know/like him that well. And I imagine that Sherlock eventually decided he wasn't a bad companion to have around. Certainly a distraction from boredom, and all sorts of use in sniffing out clues or being a diversion or giving him an excuse to chat with suspects in the park. And perhaps a bit of company when John was off with Sarah, though Sherlock won't admit it.

John hitting Sherlock, is nothing new, but this?
“Is your dog going to attack me?” Sherlock asked.
“Not unless I tell him to,” John said. “So fucking make your words count.”
This is gold.

So much to love here: "quarantine," "Vatican cameos," Sherlock forced to take the high road. . . .

Love it!

:) :)

this sounds like it'd be more likely to happen than what happens in some eps.
