Living in the State of Irrational Reactions...

Well, life here has gotten rather interesting since Thursday. For those living under a rock, that's when parts of the (in)famous SB1070 took effect. All the damned rhetoric that's been flying around has really worn on me. My solution? Get all of the career politicians out-all of them.

The biggest problem with this is that with career politicians you know what their bribe point is and (usually) who is paying them. Newbies get overwhelmed by gladhanding and might think they are unbribable, but everyone has their bribe point. With some it is money, with others, creativity in forms of payment give an insight into human foibles.

Term limits would also help-preventing said people from making politics a career. Hopefully, the minority voting block in California will give the Republican party there a good ass kicking in the mid-term and stuff the statehouse with Democrats.

Please be careful down there! It sounds like it is getting crazier by the minute, and yes, the potential for this to blow up and hurt many people is rising. I mean, if they arrest people who are protesting, then the rest of them go underground and it could build pressure until *Boom* - something REALLY horrific happens.

Well, it looks like the appeals of Judge Bolton's Preliminary Injunction are in good company in the Ninth Circuit-California is going to appeal the ruling of Judge Walker, declaring Prop 8 unconstitutional. Two cases that have the possibility of being used by the political hopefuls to polarize the electorate-that's unusual even for the Ninth Circuit.

As far as Prop 8 goes, the best of all scenarios would be that the Ninth Circuit affirms the lower court's decision and the Supreme Court denies cert-refusing to hear the matter (essentially affirming the circuit court's ruling). SB1070's a whole other deal since the facts in the case have yet to actually be tried.
