[With a clearing of his throat, Merlin addresses the journal system.]

Perhaps...I am not really cut out to be a knight. Although, it'd be nice to get some of the recognition. A knight is never stuck serving breakfast.

Yes, a knight; however, I don't think it was the right career choice for me.

[He's a little confused by this sudden questioning.]

Why not? Because you're better fit to serving breakfast?

Well, no. [He puzzles that one out.] I may serve breakfast, but it's not what I'm best at. Arthur tells me I'm mostly rubbish at it anyway.

[ Don't mind the raspy voice, Merlin. ]

[There's a hum of consideration.]

Yes. He has been, for several days now. The Malnosso took him.

[Aha! Wait a sec, recognition:] Sir Kirk?

You were captured, as well?

[Oh hey, it's the guy with the big sword...]

Ain't there some kinda middle ground? I mean, it ain't like being a knight or serving breakfast are the only two choices you got--right?

So? Who gives a damn about that? You can still do whatever the hell you want. Let other people put limits on you, and you'll be serving breakfast the rest of your life.

[He's quite happy to see her from across the journal and smiles.] Miss Razette. How are you?

Doing much better now that I've stopped lugging around the sword. [He smiles, then--looking down at the pages--he wonders aloud:] Razette, can you write?

[He mimes writing.]

[But that one page always served breakfast back in the company. Jaffar isn't one for talking, but the journal might record him... thoughtfully staring with his dead on the inside eyes]

[Eventually, Merlin catches sight of the eyes staring and his own brow furrows.]

Err--hello? Can I help you? [He taps the journal page.]

[Some additional frowning.]

Is this thing working? I...I can't hear you.
