I am writing the story for my Tales of the Slayer ficathon assignment. And it’s killing me! It exists nicely in my head, I walk the street with perfect dialogues going on in my brains, cool phrases and so on. Then I am sitting here, fingers on the keyboard - and the words don’t want to come outside ( Read more... )

This is unrelated, but when I read this, I thought you might like it. It's rather bittersweet, but I suppose it ought to be, considering.

Thank you, it is a very beautiful poem. Though I am slightly tired of pertinent link between Russia and snow, but it makes up to it with the flow and imagery.

Thank you, I’ve got your e-mail and read through the text. Which left me deeply ashamed of all things I should have noticed myself. I have still miles to go with writing in English, but I am happy that the story seems worth writing.

I tried to get both the Slayer and her Watcher time-appropriate opinions on each other countries, so that’s where their jokes come from. The Masons’ mention is basically unnecessarily, just to give a flavour of time, and I liked the idea that the Watchers’ Council pretended to be a Masonic society.

The curse - often attributed to tsarina Evdokia - is an actual urban legend of Petersburg; and the flood in question did happen - I didn’t have to invent much. ;)

Thank you again, and I’ll send you the next part by weekend, I hope.

Deeply ashamed? You should be so proud! You're writing good fic in a second language! I'm just awed by that achievement.

Thank you, but I am studying English for so long! It’s not cool anymore to get discount, because it is my second language. I am resigned to the fact that I speak with an accent, but I’d love to write better, at least not to make most obvious mistakes.
