Thank you for all the birthday wishes - One of the best things about LJ is having friends who make my days brighter, and it's never as apparent as on a birthday and after. ;) and yes, I know that the month has passed since, but I started to write this post the next day after birthday

Did you go to NYC or just New York state in general?

We haven't been to many places there, but we felt that everything we knew about New York from friends, and books, and media,etc and everything we saw for ourselves shifted into a focus and becoming multidimensional

I think I know what you mean. I was in NYC in 1998, when I really didn't know enough about the city. Looking back, my touristy experience was so superficial. I think I would appreciate it more now, or on an entirely different level. I would love to visit again.

We crossed the border at Niagara falls and spent couple of hours near the falls - you can see them differently from US than from Canadian side, then we drove through upstate New York and spent a night in Utica, before driving to Boston, and then to NYC.

Thank you! I am happy not to worry about work and spend time at home, but it is scary, too - not to have income in foreseeable future.
