Wow...that is US media bad.

I think it's your duty as a watcher of this particular program... to write in.

Huh. Why doesn't this surprise me? How much of the news we get infused with daily is based on more than the way the journalist formulates his/her sentences? This one obviously didn't give a shit about any bear. Never take the news on face value. See beyond every statement. Some might think it's a dumb way to live, but it works just fine for me.

The first thing I got from that article was why aren't they trying to isolate whatever is making it do X or Y and then patent the drug and profit? It's just horribly...well. Inefficient. But that's a little off the point.

There's a lot of information that gets filtered out...my best bet is whoever wrote the article didn't really bother doing their own research on the matter, in all likelyhood, or someone figured it wouldn't make for a good story if it derailed focus =/

That's what I wondered. I mean, I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and think "Maybe they mean the chemical itself is the good thing and that they can synthetically create this". Which, you know, I have no problem with. But even if that's the case, the article didn't make that clear, and it does imply the use of actual bear bile for the research, etc.

It made me sad :(

Did you read the last paragragh that said that only the synthetic version should be used by humans? It wasn't much, but it did imply that the bear version wasn't as safe.
My belief that the only way to stop the cruel harvesting of all animals by the Chinese and Japanese is to tell them that it causes their penises to shrink in size.
Or that eating the hearts of unborn wealthy Chinese male babies is an aphrodisiac. If you can't get them to stop killing animals, maybe you can get them to kill themselves off.
