The universal translator hadn't been able to decipher the writing on the wall. He supposed, though, that for the inhabitants of Krop Tor, that it wasn't really that unusual. While Tiberius worked on getting external repairs done, Varsh rummaged through the depths of the ship, seeking out new (or, to be perfectly frank, scavenged) parts to replace the malfunctioning ones in the control console. He stopped for the moment, head tilted to one side as he noted Tiberius' words.

He tapped his communicator. "Can any of them tell us where we are? Have you asked?"

Not that the Ood would tell them anything. However, something lingered in the atmosphere of the planet which made his mind prickle. No doubt that was what drew him here in the first place.

Sadness. Deep and unending. Sadness. An empty longing. And something else, something terribly ancient lurking beneath. Not wishing to worry his brother any, Varsh set on not telling him.

And then it faded as swiftly as it came, leaving Varsh to ponder its meaning.

"Oh, could you see about finding a spare Helmic Orientator? I think ours is on its last legs. Or levers."

"Krop Tor, they said, though not much else. The last time I tried to talk to them they expected me to give them orders. Maybe I should have them build us a new one..." "But we're here now," he said in an insistent way, not realizing those exact words had already been spoken. "Maybe you asked the wrong questions." He ducked through the entranceway of the ship, skidding to a halt at the gathering of Ood still standing outside ( ... )

"That's what I said. And- Oh, there he goes..." Tiberius watched as his brother got up to go and check, brows raising. It was possible that Varsh would have more luck. Tiberius tended to be a bit brash when he wanted information. Though as far as he knew or was concerned, he'd been perfectly polite.

Pulling out a box of tools, he put his laser screwdriver back and hazarded a glance over his shoulder as Varsh came back in.

"You'll find me in complete agreement," he said, moving equipment aside and picking up more in search of that spare. "Did they tell you anything else?"
