The second part of 'Someday'. (You can read the first part here.)
Sadly, can't promise when I'll next have anything ready to post as classes are about to start up again in a week and RL is going to keep be busy until then. But I'll try!

He didn't know when Hermione had become such a comfort... )

I swear, it's amazing that even though you're telling the same kind of story as several other fics, you find new nuances to explore every time. I hear you on impending RL (and idiot me, I signed up for harrypotterbang anyway) but I hope you get the chance to write more soon!

Nice to see Hermione rattling off the poem, exposing some emotional depth that maybe didn't come through all that often in the canon, so consumed was she usually with the mechanics of learning spells and such.

And more importantly, they taught me about friendship and bravery and loyalty.

Yay! You brought in my favourite quote (again)!

But oh noes!!! Present!Hermione filled that strategic gap of her original utterance - "friendship and bravery and ____" - with ... 'loyalty'?

LOYALTY?

Hermione, Hermione, Hermione ... there's a much better word ... which starts with the same letter ... that you can substitute in that place! Silly girl.

Well, as to that, I think part of the 'depth' we didn't see in canon is due more to the fact that JKR's writing has all the emotional depth of a teaspoon than the fact that Hermione was usually consumed with learning spells ( ... )

Looking through your flangst tag (thought to look through some stuff with that tag on a whim and found this) and read the reviews.

I think I'm starting to like madderbrad. The two of you really tear DH a new one, and after re-reading through it some time ago (when I started writing 'Then and Now'), I'm slowly starting to get disappointed with it (aside from the obvious fact that our OTP was not to be...).

I enjoyed this chapter because it emphasizes the fact that Harry's not perfect (even in fanfiction). Yes, he's a git, and I'll agree that he's going through some issues (forget issues, he's got a full subscription), and keeping said mental baggage to oneself will lead to a breakdown, or something akin to it.
