Very nice! The key H/Hr specific here being the idea that they had 'always' been in love; or at least Hermione couldn't discern a crossing point from friendship into love. Which is an interesting slant; I often say that one of the unique aspects of H/Hr is how exciting or innovative that 'cusp' can be, when one or both of them cross the line, sees the other a different way; how the transition from friends into something more/better has so much potential. And yet here you dismiss it, redact it, omit it! Maybe that's the *ultimate* H/Hr transition; rather than being an abrupt and clamorous gear change, it's instead just one smooth continuous curve. Hmmm.
I tend to like writing the 'realization' moments for H/Hr too but in this case, I thought it was more in keeping with how long H/hr have been together that any revelation be more, as you put it, the smooth continuous curve.
Just recently there's been a small chat I've been in about the form of Hermione's Boggart. I'm sure I've read one (H/Hr) story, some time, that had it take the form of Harry's dead body. And I was referred in this chat to 'The Only Thing We Have To Fear' by VoxMaille on fanfiction.net, here, which does the same thing on a friendship level.
Just wondering if you could do anything like that? I don't know if your boggart would be a dead Harry as well, but maybe you could focus instead on what Hermione learns from it - maybe this is one of those times when she discovers/realises that she loves Harry?
Or perhaps the Mirror of Erised would be a better foil - certainly a happier one - Hermione comes across it almost accidentally, blammo?
Maybe you've written something along these lines before. I'm reminded of one of the stories I read way back just after I discovered portkey.org, 'The Mirror' by Emily North, here. Chapters 2 & 3 of that story deal with Hermione

I'm working on my own overhaul of That Stupid Book Seven, and I find myself wondering what you would do with the stuff in the tent -- Ron leaving, and the aftermath, and (in a just and proper universe) Harry and Hermione getting together because of it.
Mm, this one would be difficult for the simple reason that I haven't read DH and never plan to read it, so I have no idea what happened in the tent and I'd be nervous of trying to write any sort of AU rewrite of the scene not knowing what happened in the book leading up to it. And I'm not willing to read the book. Ever.
Comprende. :) Trust me, if you haven't read DH yet, it's surprisingly awful, worse than you have heard. In fact, one of my current favorite fics, Grace Au Malfoys, keeps taking swipes at the dumb parts of the whole series and especially DH.
I've always thought that the transition from war to post-war would be interesting and how the characters would cope. Sort of like the fine old post-WW2 film, The Best Years of their Lives when the soldiers have to adjust to peacetime. Since so much of the Trio's lives from age 11 to 18 was about defeating Voldemort and always being together at Hogwarts, how do they adjust to living adult lives in peacetime? (I know this idea is not specifically H/Hr, but I like to see it in an H/Hr lense).
Oh, I like this request, especially as it's one of my many problems with JKR that she seems to think Harry can go through all he does and come out of it completely unchanged and return to his little shallow relationship with Ginny, who has no real idea what he went through and was never really a part of his life. And I'll definitely make it H/Hr (I think I'm incapable of writing anything that's not H/hr.)
Glad you like the idea! I think their psychological lives are fascinating and I was going to pursue this myself as an idea--even started to research post traumatic stress syndrome and found list of movies vets recommend to show post-war experience-- but realized topic too intense with RL too intense right now. Working on Jane Austen inspired fic instead. But I think it's a fascinating concept not covered often. Good luck!
Ditto feelings on HP/GW. Can't see that relationship lasting post-war. Don't think HG/RW really could either.
I don't really have a ficlet request, but I would so love to read the rest of Masquerade! Any change we'll see more of that one soon? *smiles hopefully*
I know I'm late to the game, but I finally figured out that I want you to finish "What Happened Before the Wedding". :-)
I like the fic, seeing things from Emily's perspective and being so Hermione-ish in her impatience over Hermione's answer to her question. I'm a fan of well-done fics where someone from the outside is looking in, and this is one of them.

No requests for a fic?

Well, talking about the 'realisation' moment ...

I've never considered using the Mirror of Erised (such a convenient plot device, incidentally) but now that you mention it, I like the idea.
