This was so perfect and adorable. Those are totally Harry and Hermione's kids. And Harry would totally be the worry-wort dad who brought every toy in the house. This was so very them. I loved it.

I love this so SO much! Harry was perfectly in character as a terrific albeit worried dad. Hermione's interplay was great with both her kids and parents. Did I interpret her conversation with her mother correctly in gathering that #3 is on the way?

Yes, #3 is on the way in this drabble; I figured that would be a reason for Harry to give Hermione a special treat-- dinner and a night out in Paris-- for her birthday. (We already saw how #3 was conceived at their anniversary earlier that year.)

Glad you enjoyed this so much! I do love writing Harry as a dad.

Delightful as always. It's a lovely family you've sketched out in your H/Hr universe.

You know, reading this, I had the off-thought at how totally *muggle* it was. The only mention of magic was the existence of the floo. You've probably shown us this family fully immersed in the magical world, too - Harry and Hermione apparating around, levitating stuff - I guess? I presume the kids would be at home with all that.

(But then why would they be content with non-animated stuffed muggle toys? In fact, would a half-blood child ever be satisfied with (simple) muggle toys?)

I hope you had a very happy birthday!

Part of the Muggle-ness of this is largely due to a failure of imagination on my part; I just have a hard time thinking up new magic/spells etc to fit into the universe. But aside from that, I've always sort of pictured that H/Hr would try very hard to keep their kids as comfortable in the muggle world as possible, partly for Hermione's parents' sake, but mostly because in the Muggle world, unlike in the magical world, the entire family can be as anonymous and "normal" as they like, with none of Harry's fame to bug them. I can imagine H/Hr trying to limit their kids' exposure to their celebrity as much as possible and the Muggle world is an easy way for them to do that. Also, practically speaking, I can imagine Harry trying to limit the magical toys his kids got to play with outside of a totally controlled environment-- as in either he or Hermione around to quickly take care of any problems ( ... )
