The second of the drabble requests

“Daddy, tell us a story!”   Andy flung himself against Harry as Harry sat down on Andy’s bed.

“Ooof!”  Harry pretended to have been knocked backwards from Andy’s weight, falling back as Andy giggled.

“Story, Daddy, please!” Andy said, peering into Harry’s face from his new perch on Harry’s chest.

“Okay, okay,” Harry relented with exaggerated ( Read more... )

This was adorable. I love the idea of daddy!Harry. He would make an amazing father. I love the names you picked for their kids. I love the way Hermione told Harry's story for the kids- not telling them everything, but not shying away from the truth. I love the way you portrayed their relationship. So sweet. Harry got his happily ever after.

D'awwwww. :) Interesting how this Harry never told Hermione the details of his time with the Dursleys. Old news? Trying to put the past behind him?

I've always had it in my head that Harry never told Hermione-- or anyone-- the details of his time with the Dursleys. Did he, in canon? I thought she knew the general outlines-- closet under the stairs, not exactly loving type of thing-- but not the real details. If only because I really can't picture Harry talking about it much, given Harry's usual (characteristic) reticence when it comes to talking about his deeper emotions and all that.

No, I don't believe he ever did in canon. Although knowing the general details, I've always wondered why Hermione didn't investigate on her own. But, then, that starts to get into the many, many logical problems of the entire series, and head go 'splody.

One of the biggest mega-draws, for me, of fan fiction is when Hermione works out the details of Harry's upbringing from her observations. And then maybe goes off investigating. I'm sure I've read a couple of fanfics that have done that. 'Restitution' by Paracelsus does it marvellously, a few paragraphs of real heart-wrenching stuff.

I suppose there are H/G or H/X stories which do the same thing, only - like so many other aspects of any HP story - they wouldn't hit heartstrings nearly as hard, given how removed those girls are from the 'real' Harry that Hermione has been best friends with for years.

I could say lots of nice things about this fic, but I'll settle for saying that this is almosty exactl what I envisioned when I made the request.

I agree with you on Harry never talking about the Dursley's. If you look at the books, although the details seem to leak out over time Harry almost never says *anything* about them beyond rare incidental mentions, even when he's at his most miserable and self pitying.

Great work, using the kids to go back to Harry's own childhood. I'm just glad that the story is positioned at the "happy ever after" end of the timeline!

And the mock taunts between Harry and Hermione, play acting to the kids, were just right.
