In honor of DH2 coming out-- and the end of the HP saga...

This may sound like a last fic before retirement from the fandom but, rest assured, it's not. I have absolutely no intention of stopping fic-writing, if only because I don't think the H/Hr that live in my head would let me ( Read more... )

Hahhhhhhhhh. Yeah, I needed a dose of something like that right now. Not merely because of the movie (we're going on Saturday), not merely because your writing is better than at least 90% of the fanfic out there, but because you get the characters so well.

And this particular story shows how you've grown as a writer. The evidence has been there all along, but this story seems to gel it for me: You don't need the smut, or elaborate plot contortion, or any character bashing, to move well beyond the thesis of the books into territory JKR would never dream of doing because she certainly might have in the books and she didn't.

It's a privilege to read your work. Thank you.

Okay, I want a daughter or son who will call me 'daddy'. Good. That's settled.

Very nice, reads beautifully. You're going from strength to strength on these installments. They're not narrative-heavy, like some of your other work has been; the dialogue and the descriptions that go hand-in-hand with the small actions of Harry addressing his kids breaks things up nicely, makes the whole thing balanced and an effortless perusal.

It's an interesting thought, how Harry's exploits would appear to his children. Yes, they'd only see the high points - the dangerous stuff. Still, as they read the history books they'd always know that there was a happy ending. :-)

Which you gave us here too - he was the luckiest man in the world. Infinitely better than a bland 'all was well'.

Wow. Wonderful.

Things that stood out:
Harry reminding Emily that life isn't just the major events.
Turning point when Harry realized Emily was old enough to hear more of the truth.
Just warm wonderful modest brave Harry

Thanks for still writing fanfics!

Everyone else has already said it better than I could.

Fabulously done and we are eternally grateful for you and your muses.

Thank you so much for articulating so gracefully the point that I always want to express whenever I see Harry bashed in fic (or canon): Harry's true heroism has nothing to do with being an almighty asskicker, because he wasn't, and everything to do with his determination to do the right thing as best he knew how and to rise above all the lousy things that happened to him.

This is the Harry who dug Dobby's grave by hand and told Hermione she was better than him, not the one who defeated Voldemort by dumb luck and deus ex machina.
