PAINTERS!!!

Have you used house paint on paintings? Does it work just like school or professional grade acrylics or oil paints? What are the differences you find when using them? Would they work well as underpaintings?

I need a more cost effective way to paint. Mostly to do the undercoat painting....

Help...please....please please please.

halp!, art questions

I used house paint when I worked stage crew in high school. From what I remember, it's really...gloppy. It was difficult to mix because it's very thick. I don't see it being a big problem if you use it as an underpainting, but definitely just test it out first. I think they sell/give out small samples of some house paint colors at places like Home Depot.

a lotta street art folk and artists who use recycled materials use it for lots of things... I used it a LOT in my earlier work, i'd just go buy a can of white and use it as gesso and to mix with acrylic paint. it's more liquidy than buttery acrylic paint, but it covers really well. it won't mix with oils because it's not oil based.
