I've been resisting the notion of e-readers ever since they came out. I'm a tactile person and I love the feel of a book in my hands: the paper, the cover, the turning of the pages. I adore it. I also like the feel of a real book, but admit that there have been times when I've been reading on the nook and actually reached up to turn the page and realized what I was doing. I've never felt any sort of eyestrain with it, either. Yes, you can put .pdfs on it. The web surfing on the color nook is far better than it is on the original. I haven't perused the magazines on there, but I have got a newspaper subscription. It's not fabulous, but it's functional. I've never tried to move any of the books to my computer or external hard drive so I have no idea how doable it is.
