I heartily recommend Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. Funniest thing i've read since Hitchhiker's.

Peter David's Howling Mad would be a good read. Only the guy who wrote Spider-man could make the citizens of New York seem more outlandish and strange than a Werewolf. XD

Gerd Brantenberg's Egalia's Daughters is good too. Parody novel about complete role-reversal of the sexes: women get to be on top.

The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl was a good historical fiction. One of those murder mystery novels, with the victims suffering similar deaths as what Dante described in his Divine Comedy.

Anyway, hope those lanes get cleared up fast.

If you like fantasy I'd recommend getting the Axis trilogy (but not the Redemption trilogy since I personally didn't like it :P) by Australian author Sara Douglass. She used to be a nurse so some scenes can be a bit icky but it's a fantastic read.

Matthew Reilly, Ian Irvine and Chris Bunch are okay as well.
