I spend hours enjoying your posts Katya! Do you know anything about St Michael's College which in 1948 was at 143 Chang Lo Lu. My father attended this school when he was 10. I have one of his school reports which says "The school is for Russian boys. Religious doctrine, Russian language and literature, history and geography of Russia are taught in Russian. All other subjects are taught in English." Warm regards Paul
St. Michael's college (Колледж святого Михаила), built by the Jesuits for the Russian children, is mentioned in the memoir of Georgy Eliseev, "Uzory sudby" (http://samlib.ru/g/georgij_n_e/uzory_sudby.shtml) Together with his friends, Eliseev was a squatter in the unfinished building of the College around 1940; he describes the spaces and the Jesuit fathers a bit. The building appears intact: https://j.map.baidu.com/9b/pSvh
