Natalie Brosset, from a diplomatic family in Saint Petersburg, lived in Shanghai in the 1930s. Here she married the dashing French aviator Jean de Voyod, a hero of the WWI, and together they left China to settle in France. The video tracks down Natalie’s addresses in Shanghai, based on the inquiry that Sergey and I conducted last year.

Exactly! The Metropole circle, French Club, Avenue Joffre, Route Vallon's boarding houses, the British Consulate... And I love to be reminded of the great leafy trees that make such magical canopies above the streets.
