I really love how the paternal line of my family reacts to some situations with "IT HAS A DIFFERENT SKIN COLOR THAN US. KILL IT. KILL IT WITH FIRE

I'm pretty much ignoring them so I don't have to deal with my dad. To say that we have issues is to say that the Nazi's were a little racist. And the worst part is, he doesn't even know that I kind of hate him because I know if I tell him he'll try to guilt trip me and blame my mother and possibly call me a bitch and I don't want to hear that shit.
I was told by my father's mother, and I am QUOTING HERE That I was not allowed to date a black person because they just want a pretty piece of white jewelry on their arm to show off, and if I did date someone black she would disown me.
It's just. This is crazy. We all bleed red. We all feel pain, we all love, we all need to eat and sleep and breathe why the fuck does it matter what skin color anyone has?
That would be a challenge to deal with, but I'm pleased to hear you're the black sheep in this particular instance. I find the mild fascination of some of my family members with anything not like them - in race, sexual orientation whatever - frustrating enough. They ask inappropriate questions, stare even. O.O
My father marvels that I can be 'colour blind' and admits that he isn't but insists that's not racism. I have to keep reminding him that just because you're not mistreating anybody, regarding them as anything other than a person just like yourself still counts. *rolleyes* Courage to you to keep being a rebel.
